Don't panic - I think we've all done this at times - the treatment is pretty simple - eat a lot! He should check his blood sugars about once an hour for the duration that the insulin will last (eg. lantus 24 hours, novorapid 4 hours etc.) - for a shorter acting insulin eat a lot of suggary foods, for longer acting try to eat high carb meals like pasta and top that up with biscuits etc. if his blood sugar is low in between. Go for orrange juice or water with sugar in it if he is getting sick of eating! In this situation the best place to get info fast is actually to phone your local diabetes clinic or diabetes ward at your local hospital - nhs direct etc. often give wrong advise or might admit him to hospital which isn't nessecary unless his blood sugar is really low and you really can't keep it up. Hope that helps and hasn't come too late! Good luck xx

Is this the quick acting insulin or long acting?
If it is the quick acting, then it is probably easier to deal with by eating some sugary stuff, but don't go to bed for a couple of hours - check blood sugar every 15 minutes! Plus set alarm to wake up around 3am to check again!
If it is long acting then this could be more tricky - partner is going to have to set alarm every hour through the night to do blood sugar and snack!
I did that once years ago! I rang the hospital for advice and that was what they advised. I would suggest you ring hospital too and see what they suggest, as they may want to admit him for the night!
Good luck!

Are you serious?? Why are you still in front of the PC? You should be calling the ER or your physician right now for you to administer the needed antidote. Depending on the type of insulin that your partner is taking, both of you needs to watch out for symptoms of hypoglycemia. AND wIth the amount of drug that was administered, hypoglycemia could attack at any moment.

he took too much. He should (stay calm) start drinking something sugary. Call the doctor that prescribes him his insulin, he will advise you on what your next steps should be. He may drop (low sugar) real quick so start right now with atleast 8 oz. of a sugar drink, try orabge juice with some sugar added to it. As long as you act now he should be fine. But if you let this go it will become dangerious.

That sounds like quite a big overdose for him, and would give a significant hypo risk. If you can use his meter check his blood sugar and seek medical help. It would be safer to give him some extra carbohydrate while you wait for direct advice. It does does not matter if his sugar rises a little, and certainly that is safer than a hypo. Milk and digestives are always a good bet, If he has a Glucagon kit and you know how to use it, make sure it is handy.

YES!!! you should be worried, 34 units of insulin is waaaay too much, he could get severely hypoglycemic and get in a coma.... you should take him immediately to the hospital to get checked, and meanwhile make sure he takes some sugry food while you take him!!

Before taking him anywhere give him some glucose/sugar or mars/marathon/snickers bar to eat, this will prevent him slipping into a hypoglycaemic coma..then take him or get an ambulance to take him for medical help.

Yes! Be very worried...closely monitor his blood sugar. You may want to call his endo...they should have a doc on call to ask them the proper precautions to take. Find the glucagon.

Yes, you should be worried...since he gave himself nearly 6 times the amount he should have. I would call the Dr. immediately.

Quick, get him help, he's ODed.
Or you could just stay on YA asking unqualified yet reasonable answerers who will tell you same thing.
And be more worried than just sitting there bashing on the keyboard.
Is he still concious? Breathing??
