Sounds like quasi Tex Mex stuff, not Mexican.
Quesadillas are made with corn tortillas and cheese, not Monterrey Jack, not mozarella but Oaxaca, Asadero or Manchego cheese, they are folded in half and does not add any other kind of filling to it other than salsa. In Mexico we do not eat quesadillas with sour cream, that was unheard of until HEB and WalMart made it into Mexico, end even then... The guacamole you can spoon into it if you want to and the lettuce but we do not eat it that way, quesadillas remain a flat folded corn tortilla with with melted cheese filling.
Some variations of the quesadilla involve pumpking flower filling but not everyone likes them, and sesadillas which are like quesadillas only filled with sesos (beef brains) instead of cheese.

a quesadilla would never have guacamole, let alone shredded lettuce. This is an americanized way to serve dishes, and yes, side dishes are to be eaten whichever way you please.
There is a dish, called Pancho, which is a toasted tortilla to which you add shredded lettuce, cream, chopped tomatoes, guacamole and shredded chicken, but in the end you can eat your quesadilla as you want to.

Lettuce is Americanized Mexican food.

The quesadilla was invented in Brownsville, Texas, not Mexico. Technically it is what we call "Tex-Mex" food.
You put the lettuce INSIDE the quesadilla. Just because the cheese is melted doesn't mean you can't open the thing up and put stuff inside.
Oh, the guac and the sour cream also go INISIDE, not on top.
I will also be giving proper burrito folding lessons every afternoon from 5-7 in front of Papasitos Restaurant on I-10 in Houston.

Spread everything on the Quesadilla and top with the lettuce. It's like you put lettuce between a sandwich.

Just like any other food, eat it how you want. There is no right or wrong way to eat. it all ends up in the same place in the end lol... but you can add, top, or fill your food with any and all ingredients they give you. Remember, always make your taste buds happy =]

It doesn't matter. If you want to add the sides to your quasadilla, do that. If you don't want to mix them, don't. Enjoy!

There are many sides..
Eat them how you want!
If its something simply cooked, it ussualy has a topping
If its something that has alot already added to it, then its a side
its the best way i can explain it to it
But, i just eat them however i want.
Its to YOUR taste
