I'm going to have friends over, and would like to serve my spinach and salmon salad . It has tangy/salty/ asian flavors (ingredients below).
Should I serve this as the opening salad, and if so, what should I serve as a main dish?
Or, should I serve a big enough portion for it to be the main dish, and if so, what shall I serve as appetizer and side dishes?
Thanks for your help!
Salad ingredients:
Cooked salmon fillets
1 bag of spinach
½ ea. red and yellow bell pepper, chopped small
Dressing:
¼ C olive oil
1 T sesame oil
¼ C soy sauce
Juice of 1 lime
1/8 C balsamic vinegar
¼ teasp. Salt
1/8 teasp sugar

I would serve this as a main dish
Serve tomatoe bisque soup with croutons for an appetizer.
Follow it all up with Lemon Meriange Pie or a Lemon chiffon pudding.

This sounds delicious! I would serve this as a main course with either a soup ( maybe wonton or eggdrop) as a first course or maybe an appetizer in place of the soup. Maybe something like gyoza, fried wonton, eggrolls, satay with peanut sauce. or you can serve a mini combo of appetizers and assorted sauces.
It all depends on the effect your going for and the number of people you are serving. If in fact it is a big dinner party. You can do the soup, appetizers and dinner salad.
OR you can just start off with the salad and then as a main course serve rice and an asian inspired dish like Korean short ribs, Thai bbqed chicken, or just a stir fry.

May my husband and I come to your party? That salad sounds really WONDERFUL and it should be the 'main dish' ... and with the weather getting warmer, it's a 'perfect dinner' ... you could serve it with some 'lightly toasted' slices off a 'baguette' (that's the long, skinny 'artisan bread') that are 'lightly brushed' with butter or olive oil and some ginger and garlic. That's it ... dinner is DONE. For dessert, go with something just as 'light and tasty' ... but also a 'bit richer' ... say some fresh raspberries and blueberries topped with a whipped cream with some DARK chocolate curls on top and a 'sprig' of fresh spearmint or peppermint for 'green' at the side. And some 'shortbread' ... either 'plain' or some with 'dark chocolate' bits cooked into it. YUM!

I love salad as a main course and this one sounds wonderful. I'd serve some hot appetizers, maybe egg rolls and wontons would work. Then, I'd serve a hearty bread with the salad and have a rich dessert.

I think you should serve the salmon as a main course, and just make a spinach salad. You could do a seafood theme. If you want to make the salmon salad then make it . I had the best meal it was a lobster enchilada with cilantro sauce.. I think with the salmon it would go perfectly... It was at a Japanese fusion restaurant. here is the link...

depends on your friends' gender and on how much they can eat. i'ld make the salad the main course but be sure i have heavier appetizers or richer desserts if my friends are bigger eaters... if they are small eaters, the salad and a dessert should be enough :D
enjoy your meal and have fun!!!

I typically wouldn't serve a salad as a main meal unless it is lunch. Make it a first course (so it can shine on its own) and then serve a meat/starch for the main course.
