No, they are not. Vytorin is a pill that combines two cholesterol-lowering products: Zocor (simvastatin) which is an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor and Zetia (ezetimibe) which is a cholesterol absorption inhibitor. When the dose is listed, the first number indicates milligrams of Zetia and the second indicates milligrams of Zocor.

1 tablet of 10-80 Vytorin contains 10mg of Zetia and 80mg of Zocor.

2 tablets of 10-40 Vytorin contain 20mg (2x10mg) of Zetia and 80mg (2x40mg) of Zocor.

At the present time, the FDA has not approved Zetia for a dose of more than 10mg a day, so I would NOT recommend that you take two of the 10-40 pills in place of a 10-80 pill. I hope that helps!
