The Army has changed a lot over the years, but food? Probably not, because the Army gives food to sustain, not to complement your chosen lifestyle. Army food is everything from dehydrated "I don't know where that came from" food to fried eggs and beans. If you are thinking about going into the Army, just know that if you are different, that's not a good thing to be. The Army wants everyone to do everything when they want it, how much they want it, and in what color they want it. As a recruit, you won't have much choice on what you get to eat, especially out in the field.
Find a recruiter and ask. If they say yes, that is how you will know that they are lying. And, if they lie about food, guess what else they will lie about? You guessed it! Everything.

There is a vegetarian MRE (Meal Ready to Eat) used in the field. In the mess hall, that person would have to choose items based on his or her diet choices. It's not a Holiday Inn Express, you have to pick through whatever they offer.
