I have no trouble swallowing food, but for some reason, pills won't go down. If they are small enough, I can do it, but even a regular tylenol won't go down. Other than childrens Tylenol - do they make chewable adult pain relievers? I finally found chewable vitamins for adults.

I have the same trouble... I always have to take my pills with food. I chew the food then just before I swallow it, I throw the pill behind the food and it goes right down with the food.

I hope that works for you...

I used to have the same problem--it is 100% mental. Here are a couple things to try:

1) Think of the pill as a piece of food. When you're swallowing it, pretend you're swallowing a piece of food.

2) Take a drink of water to moisten your mouth first, then put the pill in your mouth, and another drink to get it down.

3) Place the pill lightly on your tongue, then close your mouth and jerk your head back (gently) to "throw" the pill to the back of your throat. Then it is much easier to swallow because it's already partway down.

I used to have trouble with the tiniest pills but now I can swallow the biggest horse pills without any trouble!

FOLKS, you have it all wrong, YOU DO NOT throw your neck back, actually you put them in your mouth and AND YOU PUT YOUR HEAD DOWN TO YOUR CHEST AFTER TAKING A C DRINK... it floats to the back of your throat and thus it makes it easier to swallow.

also YOU CAN TAKE AND GET A PILL CRUSHER and to make sure that you are getting all the med- GET SOME APPLESAUCE OR PUDDING and just mix all the meds with that and you can take it just the same!

Capsules you can just mix with the applesauce or the pudding...

I have serious problems too, my doctor told me that the average person could swallow a walnet whole with their throat, and it helped me to understand and accept it more. It is an instinctive reaction to throw up, but it can be controlled with the right concentration.

I have found the best way to swollow pills is to give them a thin coating of butter, then they normally go down easy. Try it !!
