In my hometown (Houston, TX), all the Chinese Buffets seem to also serve Mexican Food. What do you all think of this and are you seeing the same thing you hometown?

How neat--no--we don't have that where we live--it's probably becasue you live in Texas where there is a large Hispanic population--I think it is great when cusines mix and match their styles..I have heard of places that serve Indian and Chinese food and people say that the chinese food tastes sort of indiany--It makes the food more interesting when specific ethnic restuarants try to branch out and offer new things--they wind up creating new flavors...and you get more food options ...

Yeah, Denver has a lot of those places. It's either Chinese food with quasi-Japanese food or Mexican food, or Mexican food at pizza joints, or what have you. I think it's because the restaurant owners can make this food cheaply and quickly, which is what buffet owners/take-out places want to do to reap profits. They can also say that they appeal to a wider audience, so to speak, because say a guy doesn't like Chinese food but his girlfriend really craves some of that Happy Family crap. He can just go and load up on tacos.

In St. Louis, MO, a lot of Chinese restaurants with buffets are serving Sushi (a Japanese specialty). Which I find odd, considering the animosity between those two countries in the past.

That is weird. I only go to Chinese buffets where there are only Chinese people working there. Just like I don't go to a mexican restaurant full of Chinese employees. Stick to what you know, people!

I come from England and a lot of Fish and Chip shops are now also Chinese take outs. It seems its a quiet take over of the food industry by the Chinese.

There was a place in Modesto, CA that had the same style buffet. GOOD.
But yeah, strange.
AND if you have a Panda Express you will notice there are only Asians and Hispanics working...
HHAHAHAHHA.
