I usually slow cook it on the stove with potatos, carrots and cabbage. Should I add seasonings? I never have but I know some people do. Suggestions?

Where and what time. I usually go to Cracker Barrel for St. Patrick's day because my wife does not like corn beef and cabbage. I grew up in New England and that was the only thing consumed besides beer on St. Patty's day. Now I live in Texas and more people hate it then like it. You should just use a little salt and pepper. The taste of the corned beef and potatoes is enough. Plus the smell of green cabbage boiling is one of the best smells ever. It's like and aphrodisiac.

The corned beef should come with a packet of seasoning, that is what I would add. If it doesn't you could add a bay leaf and some cloves to the water you are slow cooking it in. Make sure you remove the bay leaf and cloves before you serve, you can drain the liquid through a cheese cloth to remove the bay and cloves. Enjoy! Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

Sure. Garlic, oregano for starters. Some corned beef comes pre-seasoned but still needs a little of the aforementioned added for "help".

Most packages of corned beef have a packet of seasonings in it - open the packet and add it to the mix, it will be awesome! Happy St. Patrick's Day.

I add one small can of tomato sauce and all purpose seasonings.

I don't do cabbage though.

I also add 2 tbsp. of sofrito (Goya brand in your Grocer's freezer $1.99 It's made up of onion, garlic, peppers and cilantro.

Adding this will give your corned beef a new and healthy twist.

Good Luck and Enjoy! ;-)

Certain types of corned beef found in the supermarket have all the seasonings with it. Look for that one.
