I want to go to the doctor but only if it's necessary. I'm not bringing up any mucus and it sounds like a bark, it's really deep and I cough so hard I get a headache and hurts the mucsles in my neck. I have no other symptoms. I looked at the symptom checker on webmd.com but it didnt help any. What's wrong with me?

This cough is NOT productive and very dry!!!

when you inhale, are you wheezing? you may have bronchitis.
in which case your doc may give you an inhaler...
you may have been exposed to something... sprays, bad air, dust or all of the above.
drink a lot. get a few (2-3) good nights' sleep.
if it still does not improve, you have to go to the doctor.

You've got a productive cough, so far so good, you're body is bringing this up. Keep on drinking water. But you're going to need to see a doctor, because that may be the beginnings of an infection in there. He'll also give you an expectorant, which will also help bring up that mucous out of your lungs when you cough, provided that you're taking in plenty of liquids. So don't wait until you start feeling bad and having a fever, or having a hard time breathing. See a doctor now, or as soon as you can make an appointment and get that over with. Sounds like bronchitis.
Go to the doctor. I neglected responding to the exact same symptoms in November and ended up in bed with pneumonia for 5 weeks.

sounds like brochcitis. I would goto the Doctor definitely!!
