Has anyone had trouble with the new inhaler Pro Air Hfa, that is safer for the O zone layer, that replaced Albuterol? Is it working for you like the other one did, fast acting? Has anyone had excessive coughing, wheezing and still unable to catch your breath after using it?

Read the question Bryon, I didn't say it wasn't Albuterol, I said it's the "new" one. They stoped making the other one because it's harmful to the o zone layer. I'm wondering how many people it's harmful to since they can't breath without it, the o zone is the least of my concerns when you can't catch your breath, don't you agree?

Lildevil, I'm wondering that myself, that's why I'm asking. My pharmacist said no complaints, I have to wonder though. Could it be the same acutations (2) need to be doubled (4) with the new med and the cost increased too. Mine did cost $3.00 now it's $9.00 after insurance. I would watch taking more than directed, causes broncial spasms and more serious ones. Read the pamphlet please.

my son was changed to Xopenex because the new albuterol wasnt working as well. I was told the new propellant sent the med out in a finer mist but to my son he said it felt like it was half the med and was having to use twice as much to get the same relief. He too had alot of coughing and wheezing after use. Since the switch to the new med (has the new propellant also) he is getting the quick relief he needs. I wonder why one works and not the other .

I've recently had that prescribed and, no, I haven't had that problem. It's possible I wasn't as restricted as you were. Are you also taking Advair or something like that for daily prevention?

Definitely see your doctor and ask for an alternative! Or perhaps see if he has a sample so that you can compare it to the one you're using and be sure that one is working correctly.

I wish the inhalers all had dose indicators like the Advair packs do so that you can be sure when you're running out.

My daughter was prescribed that new inhaler. She ended up being put on a steroid inhaler also because the albuterol itself wasnt working for her. They also put her on Singular and she's doing alot better. You may need additional help. I would call your doctor and tell them that its not working well for you. Good luck, and I hope you feel better soon.

Slight correction:
HFA is the propellant (Freon H111A?)
It replaces CFC propellant (freon)
Its still abuterol

Singulair, Advair and a few others mix the Bronchial Med and steroids into a single dose

You are right ... it does not work as well. From the sounds of it your asthma is out of control at the moment, perhaps you need to go on some steroid inhalants.
