I feel for you my dear.. but if it's a viral infection, there is nothing that will help.. I had one for 6 weeks! Numerous antibiotics and OTC medication didn't do any good.

The only thing that helped was Afrin Nasal Spray..

Good Luck... and drink alot of fluids... especially water and tea,
it will loosen the mucus..

Sounds like you have sinusitis. Okay, for starters, start on Vit C heavily, like 600 to 1000mg a day. Start drinking green tea, at least three times a day (the good kind not lipton). Finally, if breathing is a problem, get some eucalyptis oil from a health food store. (Make sure its essential oil not just oil of eucalyptis). Add five drops to some orange juice and mix thoroughly-then drink immediately. It will open up your sinus instantly.

You should notice a big difference after a couple days. A sinus "infection" is your body fighting off a flu or cold. Remember, keeping your body ph at 6.5 or 7 will stave off most illness. Also, eating too much dairy in the winter can significntly lower your immune system (Increases mucus in the body).

Take care

See a doctor. If it's infected you'll need antibiotics. These can be unpleasant but shouldn't be extremely painful, so definitely see a doctor.

Once you've seen a doctor, warm compresses can provide some relief.

If you're having sinus pain, I find that Sudafed and aspirin help a lot. You'll have to ask your pharmacist directly for the sudaphed- they don't keep it on the shelves any more.

Also, rinse your nose and sinuses with saline solution. You can buy it in a squirt bottle at the pharmacy or make it yourself using sea salt and water in one of those baby nose squirter things. Lay down and get it way up in your sinuses and hold it there for a minute, then sit up and let it drain out into a tissue. This provides some soothing relief.

If it is an infection, you need to get some antibiotics.
Tylenol Sinus or Advil Cold & Sinus will help a lot until you go to the doctor.

You may need an antibiotic. However try flushing your sinuses with saline solution. 1 qt. water, 1 TBS baking soda and 1 or 2 TBS pickling salt(not table salt) use a bulb syringe and flush you sinuses a couple time a day

Hot packs on your face will help you feel a little better. So do warm showers. I hope you go to a doctor and get antibiotics. That will help it much faster.

Use an antihistamine and that will help the comfort level also.

I know how miserable you are. Hope you feel better soon.
