The herpes that causes cold sores on your mouth is different from the STD.
Cold sores are extremely common – it is estimated that, in the United States,
80%-90% of the population has been infected by the cold sore virus by the time they are 50 years old. Only about 30% of those infected with the virus actually ever get a cold sore.
Cold sores are caused by a virus and are considered a medical condition. Cold sores are usually caused by the herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1). This virus is part of the same family that causes chickenpox, shingles (herpes zoster), and genital herpes (HSV-2).
So, I wouldn't worry about it. Most people have them and realize the ones on your mouth aren't from STD's.

I got diagnosed with genital herpes (type 2) about three yrs ago, whilst I was still attending college and had a mindless one-night stand. I know a lot of young women say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a massive mistake that one time and suddenly it seemed like I was going to have to live with the implications for the rest of my life. The worst part was feeling I could never date guys again. After all, who wants to go out with a girl who has sores round her private parts? But since a friend shared this video https://tr.im/59Rhf everything got better.
Not only was I able to remove all remnants of the herpes simplex virus from my system in less than three weeks, but I was also able to start dating again. I even met the man of my dreams and I'm so blessed to write that just a week ago, in front of everyone in a busy restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me!! This program provided the opportunity to be happy and experience true love again. Now I hope that I can help others too by sharing this story.

Yes, there isn't any. Herpes is caused by a virus. Actually, there is little cure for viruses nowadays. The only thing that you can generally do in the case of a viral infection is strengthen the immune system and hope it fights it off. Not with Herpes, the immune system can't win against it. Thus you only get to treat the symptoms. Once you're infected, it stays with you for life. So don't get infected.
Personal experience. I have had genital herpes for over 5 years.

Cold sores are not really considered a STD. The most common way of contracting cold sores is by just kissing someone who has them. Kissing is not considered "sexual" like sex is (vaginal, anal or oral sex). Genital herpes is an STD because it's almost ALWAYS spread by sex (vaginal, anal or oral).
Cold sores are VERY common. About 75 - 80% of the world has them. Cold sores are a pain and they can be embarrassing but you are certainly not alone! Millions of people have them!
***Also, cold sores and genital herpes are BOTH caused by the herpes simplex virus. Cold sores are usually caused by herpes simplex virus 1, while genital herpes is usually caused by herpes simplex virus 2. BOTH herpes simplex virus 1 & 2 can cause either cold sores or genital herpes though. So, they are technically the same virus but since cold sores affect the lips and mouth area it's not considered a STD. A lot of people like to say the are "different strains" or a "different virus" but they are the SAME virus.

Yes it is a STD but only because it can spread by human contact in some way or another. Almost all of this country, if tested, would show positive for this virus. So I wouldn't worry about it. Just treat it when it happens. Better to treat when you start to feel the signs of it rather than wait for the breakout.

An STD is a "Sexually Transmitted Disease." They are diseases that are almost exclusively spread through sex. Cold sores on the mouth are not from sex (rarely from oral sex, usually from nothing sexual at all), so they are NOT an STD. Genital herpes is an STD because you need to have sex to catch it, not oral herpes!

You do not have an STD but what you have (HSV1) can become an STD for your partner if you perform unprotected oral sex them. So, you need to be responsible.
