Beans are a great source of protein, baked beans, kidney beans, lima beans, etc., and eggs...unless your a Vegan?
I'm nearly sure Green runner beans are high protein and high carb. Eggplant, Cabbage, Potatoes, the list is quite long.
Check out the link below, it's a site dedicated to high protein foods.
Good luck with lent!

This should contain (hopefully) everything you could want to know about vegetarian sources of protein. Also, more and more sources have come to find out that the "combining" method is bunk.
Most people get far too much protein which can cause great health risks later on; info about that is also on that link under the protein sources.

The whole combining protein thing is not exactly true. Regardless of that, you can get all the protein you need by eating a variety of whole grains, veggies, beans and nuts.

I've recently discovered seiten. I don't know if it's sold in stores, but it's very easy to make. You'll need some gluten flour (about $6), water, some basic seasonings, soy sauce, onions. You can easily find recipes online and in roughly an hour you'll have enough made to last a week. Then you just cook it up and there are many recipes using seiten online as well.
