Now they are saying that the kidneys are not functioning and they did the dialysis for 2-days. The doctor is saying that her heart was in a poor condition, the operation was a success but they are waiting for her heart to "kick in" . She is breathing through a tube in her neck, and they are saying her body is on full life support. We are so confused cause it's been a week and no response/movement from her. When you lift her eyelid her eyes are just staring straight ahead ... not rolled back like someone who is just sleeping... Any answers???

Without more details it's hard to say what her prognosis is. I will keep her in my prayers and wish you all the best.

I would say her prognosis is very, very poor. My sister had an extensive surgery(much the same as your mom) at Stanford. Her family was told almost exactly(word for word) what you are being told now. She lasted ten days. I really wish I could tell you something more positive, I really do. It will take a mircle for her to pull through. No I'm not a doc but I've worked in hospitals almost 30 yrs(x-ray tech). If you can try to prepare the family for the worst, soon. Again I'm sorry that this is so negative but I'm painting this ordeal in a realistic light. Good luck to you and your family. Stick by and support each other as much as you can.

bless your heart. Having a parent going through something like this is torture. My father has had a bypass as well as a heart transplant. But unlike your mother he woke up hours after both surgery's. Your mother sounds like she is having major organ failure. Which means all her major organs like her kidneys are shutting down. This I'm sorry to say is very troubling. This is due to the condition of her heart. I would say her prognosis at this point is very grave. I will pray for you and your mother. I wish you all the luck in the world!

prayer and strength to you and your family.
are her pupils dilated? if they are then... welll.....
her condition and age are big factors to her recovery. if complications arise, like the one from her kidneys, then maybe we should pray harder.
having to see a loved one in coma is like hell. i have been thru it and all i can say to you now is expect the worse and hope for the best.
