In the 1980's he had hernia repair and the following year his appendix ruptured. The Dr. told him he would start to have back problems, little did he know that he has had them all his life. His x-ray shows that he has had a neck fracture. In 1992 he was referred to a neurosurgeon and had a lamenectomy and lost most of his spinal fluid through the surgical sight the next week. He had to be re-hospitalized 4 days. In less than a year he had to have a discectomy and it abcessed causing temporary paralization. re-hospitalized 3and 1/2 weeks and the surgery had to be redone. Then in 2000 his BP was outrageous due to the pain and he had the first of three heart attacks before the age of 40. He has 2 stents, reoccuring migaines, carpal tunnel syndrome and now he is unable to sleep lying down, he has a smothering sensation. We now have no insurance and Home Depot fired him because he can't do the work yet he can't get disability. Now a Dr. said that he is not getting nearly enough oxygen .

We wrote to our Congressman. Sad news , even our Congressman died waiting on anything productive to be done. Thanks for the encouragement but I don't think we have enough time to go through all the red tape of the Social Security Administration again. Even if he does have that much time, since he has been unable to work regular since 1992 he would no longer be eligible to get S.S. disability. We had three minor children of our own when this all began and now we have three minor grandsons in our care. I feel so let down buy all the bureaucracy.

There is nothing you are doing wrong. This situation is similar elsewhere and throughout. The burden of illness is not just financial. The ultimate price we pay is the anguish of suffering a terminal disease, the agony of enduring chronic pain, the sadness of seeing our loved ones seriously ill.

Over 2700 years ago, a prophet spoke of a future time when sickness will be no more. This prophecy has been preserved down to our day and is found in the ancient writings of Isaiah.
Isaiah - 35;5,6 "5 At that time the eyes of the blind ones will be opened, and the very ears of the deaf ones will be unstopped. 6 At that time the lame one will climb up just as a stag does, and the tongue of the speechless one will cry out in gladness. For in the wilderness waters will have burst out, and torrents in the desert plain. " and Isaiah 33:24 " And no resident will say: “I am sick.” The people that are dwelling in [the land] will be those pardoned for their error."

Many believe that as fantastic as it may sound such a hope is real. There are some who are convinced that through man-made technology, in time, virtually all disease ad sickness will be eradicated. And the harsh reality is that even in this modern age, no on can fully escape the onslaught of physical and mental maladies.

On the other hand, those who put faith in the Bible, believe that God will cause its ancient prophecies about a world without sickness to be fulfilled. The world wants a Good Health. And definitely God will bring this prophecy to fulfillment.

Dear Sister, I will pray for your husband and for you definitely to overcome your anguish and pain.

I know where you are coming from and have been there myself.
The answer is difficult. You may need an attorney who specializes in SSD or possibly another doctor who isn't anti disability! Maybe both!
I have been since 1981 when I was injured at work and developed pulmonary embolisms with complications. I was disabled 3 years and denied. (Thank you president Reagan)
In 1993 I herniated a disc and had surgery leaving me with cronic pain- again denied!
In 2005 I was injured again at work leaving me with RSD of the foot and ankle. Then a heart stent from which coronary artery disease was implicated but RSD is known to complicate the heart. This time, accepted for SSD! It was granted based on a "weight bearing joint" the ankle!
The above link has the requirements and all the information explaining SSD.
You'll have to make the decision as to how you want to approach it again, but whatever you do, make sure you can defend the requirements with your doctor on your side. Without the doctor, your wasting your time!
There are websites that suggest doctors for various circumstances that might be to your advantage! Might be worth the time and travel if necessary.
Hope I have shed some insight here for you. I certainly can relate to your situation and I know how fustrating it can be. I can tell you that when you fill out the medical questionaire and they ask how long can you stand, walk, etc without changing position should not be any longer than 5 minutes! I was told heart stents don't count for SSD but a heart condition does! What the hell do they think coronary artery disease is? Besides the fact it's lethal! Don't give up and stay on top of the appeals process so as not to lose by technicallity!

It is very hard to get disability mainly because of those who have cheated the process. I had three specialists helping me and when I still did not get it my doctor asked if I had hired an attorney. I asked why and he said you have to play the game.
Not only are you ata a time where you need every penny to live but it is hard emotionally too. Anyway after I hired an attorney and agreed to pay his fee.....he looked at me and said he would have it in six to eight months. I was so angry how could he get so easily yet they would deny me anything?
Ended up I lived on my credit card for a year and a half and needless to say was way behind by the time I recieved any benefits (which the lawyer promptly got his cut.)
It is a long hard battle and I will never forget it. So hang in there and good luck to you.

I feel for you , but why are you carrying for your grandchildren? My ex has had 3 heart attacks, two back surgeries, , and surgery on his arm, he also has a pacemaker and a defibulator. and is still working. Yet, if you are bi polar (which to me means if you don't get your way you have a temper fit. You can get disability. . If they would look at people on disablity each year and monitor the deadbeats Maybe people who need it could get it. But I believe that each person should to be looked at every year. Not stay on it for every. I my self have had ruptured disc in my neck 4 of them and now I have two more always in pain. I have bad knees and feet. I don't even think about asking for help because it will not be there.

Don't give up. I wrote letters to my state senator and congressman and told them our story about how the social security administration was putting everything on hold and not processing the claim. He contacted the administration and got the ball rolling. Good Luck

I cannot believe that the congressman died while trying to help you! You have my prayers because that is something that would happen to me. Ok, go back to the congressman and see if they kept a file and if not get the paper trail going! Go to your senator. State your case and get a time to get back in touch with him. Make people accountable by the paper trail. Notify radio/tv investigative reporter. It is time to take drastic steps.
