Many times if you contact the drug company ,they have a certain amount set aside for people who can't afford their medications. Ask your Doctor what the name of the drug company is and if they have a toll free number, pharmacies usualy have a data base with numbers of companies for trouble shooting problems with shipping and such. They may be able to get you what you need. There are also other drugs that may be cheeper that work just as well. Talk to your Doctor about your concerns , that is what he is there for ( making the big bucks)Get what you are paying for.

You can contact the company that manufactures Plavix or your doctor. Both can give you a way to get Plavix for free if you are in financial need. Both your doc and the Plavix company would rather get you some free Plavix then have the stent or stents close down.

Why not use aspirin?

Plavix was meant for patients who could not tolerate aspirin. They both work on platelets to produce anticoagulation.

A recent study published in the New England Journal of Medicine (http://content.nejm.org/cgi/content/short/352/3/238) suggested that aspirin along with Nexium was safer than Plavix after GI bleeds.

That's a reliable place for generic Plavix. But, I would go with aspirin like the other answer suggested.

If you talk to your doctor about it they should be able to either provide samples or put you in touch with a company who can. Many times the drug manufacturers have programs for people in your situation. Good Luck!
