You aren't too young to be a veggie; my kids were raised as such! What matters is if you have enough knowledge of nutrition to be a healthy vegetarian. I started to go veggie at age 8 and took two years to switch my diet as I learned how to eat correctly. My tenth birthday present to myself was to make being vegetarian official, by that point I was able to teach our family doctor about food.
Age isn't a restriction; lack of knowledge IS!

You needn't care what others think, being a vegetarian is something good, and something to be proud of.
I have been a vegetarian since I was 6 and now I'm 15. I've grown up very healthily and even healthier than some or I could say most of my friends in my community. Lots of school teachers, friends, and relatives marveled at how healthy I am, despite people saying vegetarian makes a kid pale, skinny, weak etc. I am also involved in quite a lot of outdoor activities and it does me no harm.
Nah.. You're not too young.. It's only how you manage your food intakes matters. If what you follow is right, do not worry you'll turn out into something different.Tell them, do some research and let them see what it takes to be a vegetarian and what you will benefit from it.

I became a vegetarian at age 13. And have been one for 7 years. But for 10 weeks now I have been a vegan, my 2 younger sisters and mother also became vegetarian at the same time I did, and also decided to follow me as a vegan. If you have vegan/vegetarian smarts then at any stage in your life it his health-full diet. My family has done well on a vegetarian and now vegan diet, and we have experienced excellent health. Do your research and gain as much knowledge as you can about the subject, that way you can feel confident and comfortable with your decision. And who cares what other people think! Don't let peer pressure rule your actions, use your own brain and do whats right for you!

I've been a vegetarian since I was 22... which was a long time ago! In addition I have raised 7 VERY healthy strong smart kids who have never eaten meat, fish, or eggs--- Two are grown up with kids of their own, and are raising them vegetarian too.
You can't be too young--- the only problem might be that you aren't in control of what foods get bought and prepared in your house. If you family will not co-operate with your food choices things can get difficult because you might not get enough nutrients.
Be sure to read about what you need to eat to be healthy and see if your Mom will help you out by buying beans, tofu etc. It would help if you started playing around with cooking too--- then you could learn to make the things you want to eat--- and who knows, maybe get your family to like the vegetarian stuff too.
There are a lot of cookbooks out there (or recipes on the Internet) that have EASY vegetarian recipes.
Good luck to you--- you are making an excellent choice for your own body, the well-being of the environment, and (obviously!) for the animals!

How great (your never too young)! I went vegetarian when I was 17 and my mom and dad weren't happy, but dealt with it. I found out a couple years later that few of my friends had bets on when I'd eat meat again. I went vegan a year and a 1/2 ago...I'm trying to get my dad to go vegan to help his diabetes, but he is set in his ways. Why don't you gather some info on it for your parents...Try to focus on the health aspects. I bet thats what they are must worried about.

I became vegetarian when I was 37, just two days after my birthday. It's been three years since then, and I still wish I had chosen to go veggie much earlier.
You're on the right path, just make sure that you're getting a balanced diet, and ignore others' uninformed comments.
No one is too young to eat healthy, or to feel a compassion for animals.

i've been a vegetarian as far back as i can remember. i think i ate a little meat occasionally, like maybe bacon once in a while when i was younger but i don't eat it at all anymore. i've been completely meat-free for years and i love it. you are definitely not too young, there is no "wrong age" to become a vegetarian. you made a great decision, but some people will not be able to accept that. that's their problem. =)
