stir fry some noodles with veggies/chicken: this can be asian in encompassing China, India, Thai, Malay, Indonesian, Singapore.... you can talk about Asian food and maybe a little about each Asian country.

Stir fry noodles with veggies (add chicken if you wish)
is healthy, easy & fast. problem solved.

How about an Irish stew? Some can peel potatoes, carrots, cut celery, onion... cube meat (beef or lamb... maybe both).

A little oil goes in a big stewpot... put in the meat and onion, brown it, sprinkle white flour just to coat the meat a bit (this thickens the broth). Salt and pepper to taste. Then add chicken or beef stock to cover (available in cans if you like) and then the vegetables.

It should cook awhile to be good, you know... could they assemble it one day, put it in the refrigerator, then heat it the next day and eat it? Or could you start it before the second day an hour or two before class starts?

They could be making soda bread rolls while the stew is finishing. In small batches (five girls per batch maybe?) Rolls would bake fast enough... loaves take too much time for what you are trying to do.

That sounds like fun. I wish I could help, and watch whatever you decide to do!

This is what you need!!!!! This site will give you ideas on how to cook in the classroom, educational & instructional videos. I recommend Mexican Food since it doesnt have any ingredients that might scare away young'ns. LOL...

Attached is the link to the Enchilada step-by-step recipe... This will take approx 30 mins so the girls can enjoy what they cooked in the 45 mins time!! Make sure you prepare before hand for any little mishaps!!

Chicken Quesadillas

- pre-cut chicken into cubes or small strips
- have students add a little bit of lemon and garlic
- pan fry for about 10 on low until chicken is cooked through and just slightly browned
- have students lay out the tortillas and spread cheddar cheese, then arrange chicken on top of the cheese, and add a layer of mozzella cheese on top; cover with a torilla
- bake in the oven for five minutes, then remove from the oven and flip tortillas over; repeat until cheese is fully melted and tortillas are crispy
