It can just stop, but there is always a reason, even if it is not readily apparent

No, there is always a reason a heart stops. If you have anxiety, thinking about your heart stopping will certainly not help that disorder. Why don't you think about ways to make your heart strong, like aerobic exercise ? Remember that what you focus on becomes a reality. Think positive healthy thoughts!

You wont ever "feel" you heart stop. What most people experience when they say they felt their heart stop is when you have something called a PVC preventricular contraction. Your heart skips a beat or many.
If your heart actually stops it will cause you to pass out and more than likely those around you will call 911 and things will be sttled quite quickly by a cardiologist.

People's hearts usually stop ( go into cardiac arrest due to some medical defect or disease) however, with the problems you say you are having with anxiety it is understandable how you could feel that way.I would suggest you see your doctor who can treat the anxiety you feel.
Good luck and good health

Hey. Although you may not feel your heart beat at times, it is beating. If it was not beating you would enter cardiac arrest, and chances are, you wouldnt be here to tell your story. I wouldnt stress over it too much, I went through similar things a while back and wasted way to many days worrying about it. If it really worries you, make an appointment with your doctor to possibly get an EKG. Otherwise, try not to think about it to much. ♥ Fantabulous

I have suffered the same feelings that you have. Unless your very old your heart wont stop beating. Its a mind thing. Just relax and take some deep breaths. Know that your fine right now and your heart is working just fine.

I'm not a doctor but I can tell you that basketball players sometimes have a condition that when they are playing their heart will just stop. I think it's from something undiagnosed that they have had from birth. Check on md.com and see if they can explain it better. Your probably just worried for no reason but it never hurts to follow your intuition.

I use to be so worried about this! espiecally when i exercised. well my bfs dad is a physician and he told me that a healthy persons heart won't just stop for no reason. usually when your heart stops you have had some problems with it from birth or unusual heart rythms. it's very rare if your a healthy person that your heart just stops.

Yes, have you never heard of some people who are the picture of health, and they just dropped dead from a massive and unexplained heart attack?

Obviously if it stops, there is/was a cause and/or reason!
