That's what Lopressor is supposed to do. If you feel dizzy, light headed, or actually pass out, get to an ER or call your doctor.

It just happens to some of us. I also suffer low blood pressure. (23 female, slightly overweight) not sure what causes it. Aparently it is good for our hearts, because it can pump the blood around easier. However if it drops to low it can be dangerous, just like high blood pressure. Due to low blood pressure I get dizzy when a litle too hot and move to quickly. I also breathe slower than others, especially at night. Often people ask if i can breathe ok, cos they dont hear me breathe or see my chest rise and fall. I often feel weak aswell and quite tired alot. But I live life normally, Im happy and it hasnt stopped me doing anything. Doctors check my blood pressure more oftn then others now.

My answer comes from the website I have listed below please refer back for more information.

Low blood pressure is blood pressure that is so low that it is causing symptoms or signs due to the low flow of blood through the arteries and veins. When the flow of blood is too low to deliver enough oxygen and nutrients to vital organs such as the brain, heart, and kidney; the organs do not function normally and may be permanently damaged. It should be noted that unlike high blood pressure, which is defined on the basis of blood pressure alone, low blood pressure is defined primarily by signs and symptoms of low blood flow. In fact, some individuals may have a blood pressure of 90/50 and have no signs or symptoms of low blood pressure, and, therefore, not have low blood pressure while others who normally have a blood pressure of 130/80 may develop symptoms and signs of low blood pressure if their blood pressure drops to 100/60.

There is a wonderful amount of information here, please finish reading to learn more. Hope you start feeling better.

Lopressor is a hypertension medication designed to make your blood pressure go down. If it is causing fainting than your pressure is too low. They typically want your pressure between 120-130 systolic. What are you considering low? Its also used for intervention in acute MI and Angina, either way its going to bring your pressure down. Talk to your physician about lowering your dose if it is causing problems.

The medication is doing what is supposed to do "lower" your blood pressure. How low is it? How old are you? Do you have any chronic health issues? Did your doctor give you any instructions after giving you this medication? Just call his/her office tomorrow and get advise. The Internet is not for medical advise. Good luck!

Heart disease! Mine is from Mitral Valve Prolapse that is getting worse but not bad enough to operate on yet. You should be talking to your Dr about this as it is as dangerous as high blood pressure.
