Just a thought - Levaquin is a good antibiotic used for many different types of pneumonia. Its effectiveness can be adversely affected if you take other drugs. These drug interactions can cause the Levaquin to be less effective. That could be the reason the drug has not helped you. According to the manufacturer, the following may happen:

While the chelation by divalent cations is less marked than with other quinolones, concurrent administration of LEVAQUIN Tablets with antacids containing magnesium, or aluminum, as well as sucralfate, metal cations such as iron, and multivitamin preparations with zinc may interfere with the gastrointestinal absorption of levofloxacin, resulting in systemic levels considerably lower than desired. Tablets with antacids containing magnesium, aluminum, as well as sucralfate, metal cations such as iron, and multivitamins preparations with zinc or Videx® (didanosine) may substantially interfere with the gastrointestinal absorption of levofloxacin, resulting in systemic levels considerably lower than desired. These agents should be taken at least two hours before or two hours after levofloxacin administration.

If you have not taken any of these medications, then a trip to your doctor for follow up may be in order. The oral dosage of Levaquin can be 750mg if the doctor thinks you need a stronger dose, or Avelox® is another very effective antibiotic for pneumonia. According to Bayer, Avelox® (moxifloxacin HCl) 400mg sequential intravenous to oral monotherapy given once a day is as effective as the potent combination of high-dose ceftriaxone plus high-dose levofloxacin in hospitalised patients with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) according to new data presented at the 16th Annual Congress of the European Respiratory Society (ERS) in Munich, Germany.

You are probably taking a 10 day dose pack correct? And, remember that levaquin is the strongest antibiotic in pill form- next would be intravenous antibiotics. You could have viral pneumonia, which is harder to cure than bacterial pneumonia. It also takes a long time to get better. When I had pneumonia I was sick for 5 weeks. Be patient, take lots of rest, and follow up with your doctor!!! You may need another chest x-ray to see if the pneumonia spread to a different lobe or another lobe in your lung.
