Hi! I'm sorry to hear your dad is not feeling well, but speaking from personal experience...good things will most likely come from this! Coronary bypass is a walk in the park compared to what it used to be. You and your father will be amazed by the ease with which doctors can perform these procedures.
I am 27 years old and have had three heart surgeries in my adult life to correct some valve and aortic problems I was born with. It's so much easier to remain calm as the patient. I think it's harder for the people around the patient to cope. If you are a person of faith (or if your father is) say a prayer for him and also for his doctors...that they will be inspired to know exactly what to do.

If you are not a person of faith, just have the trust in science. The equipment doctors use now compared to when I was a child...amazing! The things they can do now are mind boggling.
Your father will probably need family and friends, but he'll also need alone time to think. Don't go overboard helping him during his recovery, give him space. He will want his independence. Something you can do for him and for you...tell him I said to get up and move around a lot if he is able! It's hard at first, but he'll have an easier time breathing the sooner he gets up, sits up and exerts himself. Walk around with him, he'll enjoy your company on his little strolls around the hospital and the house!
I hope all goes well, I'm sure it well :) Keep your chin up!

There's nothing to worry about! These operations are so common today. Heart surgery has been mastered in every aspect. Today we have people all over the world with heart transplants!
Just say a prayer and tell your dad you love him, that's all the strength he'll need!!!
Are prayers are with you and we wish you and your dad the very best of luck!

If you are religious: pray
If not: find a support group of family/friends and share your issues w/ them. I'm sure they would give you great moral support
