Since I am unable to eat a banana (causes me to have bad abdominal pain), I was wondering if there is another souce that provides potassium, besides the tablets? Thank you.

Try 'new' potatoes--the little red ones. They are full of nutrients and absolutely delicious. A yummy, healthy way to cook them is to put them on a sheet pan (preferably with sides) or baking dish. Cut them into bite-sized pieces. Put some other veggies in there (I use bell peppers, broccoli, corn when in season). Cover with just a little salt (can be omitted for dietary reasons). Put a little oil of any kind (I prefer olive oil) on top and put in the oven. Cook at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about an hour.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Most tropical fruits (grapefruit, oranges, mango, guava, papaya, etc.) are high in potassium.

The book, the healing foods, from Rodale press is a great reference for any such dietary question. It lists 66 foods which contain potassium.

It rates all 66 in categories of good, better, and best.

Some of the best are Great Northern Beans, Lima Beans, Navy Beans, Peaches, Plantain (which may bother you), Winter Squash, low fat yogurt, tomato products, spinach, and even cantaloupe.

Potatoes are another good source, try something like the red or what they call new potatoes because they may not be as much of an issue for you when it comes to starch.
