i really get wound up and bent out of shape when i see bad spelling. if some of you folks have trouble with words that have too many letters, use the check spelling thingy that this site provides. it is my pet peeve to see supposedly adult and/or near adult people spell like they are not even in the first grade yet. i understand typos but some of you people need to really brush up on simple language arts, especially spelling. for crying out loud. get real.

after reading some of the first answers, i have to add this.....it doesn't matter what section i ask this to, i see the same ol' crap in all sections. maybe i should just stay out of public areas beacuse it gripes me to see bad spelling. even not speaking english as a first language isn't an excuse beacuse of the check spelling box is here no matter what language you speak. so get anal with yourself. and learn to spell, not make excuses.

and again, i type without using capital letters for longer than most of you folks have been online. it was, at one time the acceptable way to type while online. so go suck an egg if you cant understand that but at least i know how to spell. and i DO have a backspace key AND the spelling check button. i wish more folks would learn how to use these things. then some of your questions would make more sense to the rest of us.

Amen!!!!

I'm only a seventeen year old girl and I'm tired of simple words going over people's heads!!! *rolls eyes* I use the word "irrelevant" in front of a group of teenagers and I am greeted by blank stares.

by the way, I will use the spell check thingy just in case! ;)

Off-putting as it may be - do you really think that there was a time when the entire population spelled everything perfectly? Ever in the history of the written word?

You are looking at it from the wrong perspective if you think it's new, or a product of the current culture. I'd proffer that we have more people right now who can spell better, speak better, read better and communicate better than ever before.

Instead of focusing on the atrocious spelling that peppers these queries, try and see it as an educational tool - it takes practice for many people that may not even have the same language.

Encouragement is better than derision.

You don't capitalize. I wonder how many people will get bent over that egregious error.

I find it ironic that you posted this question in the wrong category. Nothing to do with vegetarianism.

But I agree with you to some degree. However, you have to realise that some people who post questions and answers here do not speak English as a first language. And some people have learning disabilities, such as dyslexia, which makes it very difficult for them to spell correctly. And then there are those people who are lazy and think it's cool to type L33T. But here's a suggestion for people: Use spell check! It's even suggested in the community guidelines!

But you know, I sometimes feel the same way as you.

y r u gripen' about this in the fud and dink forem???

What really gets me wound up and bent out of shape is people not using capital letters at the beginning of a sentence. It just shows general laziness by not using the "shift" key. Come on now. Your finger is right next to the key.

Sheesh!

That's great and all, but maybe you should categorize your questions correctly. Oh, and try capitalizing your sentences if you're gonna get all anal about spelling. I hate it too but at least I make sure I'm not making stupid errors while I get uptight about it.
