OY! Gefilte fish...... like the Kabalah and Madonna, it's something that Goyim shouldn't try. Be happy with your spare ribs and leave us to our heartburn.

Since i've been eating gefilte fish most of my life, I forget that it's an acquired taste for some. It's traditionally eaten cold with horseradish. It's basically ground up fish (whitefish & pike are the best, or carp, trout or a few other fresh-water fish), onion, matzoh meal, eggs & salt poached in a fish broth.

Gefilte fish is a very old European recipe. If you get the fish made with whitefish and pike, it tastes better than the plain fish.
It's more expensive but worth it. Also you're supposed to eat the fish with red horseradish. I guess if your mouth burns enough you won't notice the taste of the fish.

No kidding talk about the balance of life.
When I was a kid I worked in a supermarket in Queens and some stockboy -not I- knocked over a display of it . To this day the thought of what that smelled like still makes me feel sick. How DO you go from that to the smoked fish counter at Zabars ?

LOL
I worked in a nursing home one time that was completely kosher. Those little old ladies and gents LOVED their gefilte fish and crackers each afternoon! I was gagging watching them cram those things in their mouths!

i like gefilte fish...but i have to LOAD on the horseradish. maybe that means i don't like it. i dont know. but my grandma eats the jelly that is left over from the jar. make me want to die every time i see her do it. probably one of the most unappetizing experiences.

Hahaha it's true. That is some nasty stuff. I grew up Jewish and I have only tasted a bite, and that was plenty!

Please, please, STOP eating gefilte fish out of the can or jar! If that is your sole (pun intended) source of gefilte fish then its been known to addle your brain.
