Do you believe that God went *poof!*, and in 7 days, humans were created?
Or do you believe that the universe went *BANG!*, and slowly over millions of years, we became what we are now, shaping our own destinies?
Why do you believe this?

it seems that people are giving Creationists thumbs-down, and Evolutionists thumbs-up
please give thumps-up/down according to how good the response is, not if you like/dislike what they believe in

I gave you a star, I like the question even though I am of the mindset that God did in fact create everything. But I don't believe that God made everything in 7 24 hour days like the Creationists do. First of all, do you know how long a day is in space, like on Neptune? I'm not saying God is from Neptune, I'm just saying that God took his time to make a perfect environment for life on the planet.
Why? Because I'm an ABC kind logic. I see my TV set and automatically think to myself 'aha, somebody must have made that TV set." I don't say "aha, this is the outcome of billions of years of evolution."
Evolution has a ADK kind of logic (in the sense that there are missing links, gaps throughout the theory, and the fact that evolution cannot explain the solar system which is the foundation for life on this planet).
I realise that there is evidence supporting Evolution. But then again the same evidence Evolutionists point to is excately the same evidence Creationists point to to prove their theories.
In the end, it is what makes you happy, fullfilled and content for the remainder of our very short lives.
Basically I believe for every Action there is a Reaction. All Evolution can prove is Reaction and not Action. Yes, there was a Bang but as a result of what? See what I mean?
Ok, now I'm going to eat my cookies and ponder about more important matters, like what's going to happen on Lost. LOL
Good question!

I believe that God created the Big Bang about 14 billion years ago. Since 1000 years is a day to God, and a day 1000 years,
I think man was Created on the 6th day. or better term in the 6th period of the creation cycle.

It wouldn't be a day in R & S without seeing this question again. Gallup has been asking this question since 1982 with only slight variation answer response %.
Summary-
46% Believe in the literal Creation account of Genesis
13% Believe God had no part
36% Want to believe in both Creation and Evolution
5% No Opinion (Amazing to me)
Gallup Poll. May 8-11, 2006. N=1,002 adults nationwide. MoE ± 3.
"Which of the following statements comes closest to your views on the origin and development of human beings? (1) Human beings have developed over millions of years from less advanced forms of life, but God guided this process. (2) Human beings have developed over millions of years from less advanced forms of life, but God had no part in this process. (3) God created human beings pretty much in their present form at one time within the last 10,000 years or so."
I'm with the 46%.

Well, evolution does not equal big bang, but I do believe that both happened, since that is what the science community generally accepts, along with relativity and gravity. Science is what teaches us.
It makes so much more sense, as well, and has far less contradictions within itself and what we know is true.
Regarding thumbs. I don't like it when people say 'bcuz it sez so in the biblee!!'. I've given thumbs-up to the creation answers that make sense and down to the evolution answers that are also rude.

Seven Dog Days, Seven MAN day, Seven GOD days.
Dr. CARL SAGAN, the Late, Great Cosmologist from Cornell university in his EMMY award winning PBS show Cosmos proposed a Cosmic Calendar of 30 days in which MAN came to be in the FIRST MINUTE of the FIRST HOUR of the 30th day of the month.
If you take God's 6 days and make MAN as being FINSISHED on the LAST MINUTE of the LAST HOUR (11:59 PM) and divide by 15 billion years, you come out with the same figure as if you followed Dr. Sagan's 30 day month.
Insn't that interesting!
Did you KNOW, that the Big Bang Theory was POSTULATED by a Catholic Priest and Einstein was in the audience when he read his white paper (he held a degree in Physics) and STOOD UP and applauded because the Monsignor postulated a RED SHIFT for stars and galaxies (discovered years later by Hubble) and BACK GROUND COSMIC RADIATION (discovered in the 1960's by Bell Lab scientists).
BOTH of those posualates had proofs!
Big Bang, by the way, paralelles Genesis and is accepted by the Catholic Church.
WHAT isn't accepted and even SCIENCE doesn't totally accept, is that MAN came from PRIMATES.
What Religion doesn't accept is RANDOMISM.
You are a product of the RANDOM, SOULESS, MINDLESS universe that spit you out accidentally.
You are SERENDIPITY.
Religion does not accept that.
Religion says SOMETHING or SOMEONE with GREAT intellegence MADE YOU.
You have a father. You are NOT an orphan!

I believe neither of your offerings.
Instead, I believe what the Bible ACTUALLY teaches.
Creationism isn't taught in the Bible ...
Creation is, & in a scientifically sound manner!
Fundamentalism & Creationism take some of what it says entirely out of context.
However ...

Science has threory. Not proof.
Genesis 1:1- 2, In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. (The Bible does not tell us how long this took.)
Genesis 1:3-5, God said Let there be light,"He separated the light from the darkness, He called the light "day," and the darkness, "night." And there was evening, and there was morning-------the first day.
Genesis 1:6-8, And God said, "let there be an expanse between the waters to separate water above from water below water. God called the expanse "sky," And there was evening, and there was morning-------the second day.
Genesis 1:11-13Then God said, "let the land produce vegetation". And there was evening, and there was morning-------the third day.
Genesis 1:14-19, And God said, "let there be lights. He created the moon and the sun and the stars. And there was evening, and there was morning-------the fourth day.
Genesis 1:And God said,
Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth. So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing with which the water teems, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to it's kind. And there was evening, and there was morning-------the fifth day.
Genesis 1:24-31, And God said, "Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds.
Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness.
So God created man in his own image.
God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning -------the sixth day.
Genesis 2:1-3, Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array.
By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.

Evolution happened there is a lot of evidence. Here is my list. There is more, I just tried to stick with the easy to understand ones.
* Fossils - the order can be determined by stratification alone (no radiological dating) it is unarguable and life started simple and got more complex. Here is a simple chart to show what I mean: http://pubs.usgs.gov/gip/fossils/succession.html
* Anatomical similarities between species.
* Chemical similarities between species.
* Mitochondrial DNA regressive studies. - This comes only from your mother and the only changes to it are through mutations. These mutations occur at a known rate, and converge world wide 150,000 years ago give or take. If Eve (6000 years ago) was the only female, it would be almost identical world wide. It is not. The flood gives a second bottleneck that matches the facts even less well.
* Geographic distribution of related species. Meaning related species are usually near each other.
* Wisdom Teeth - there isn't room on your jaw for them anymore.
* Your little toe - totally useless. Nice intelligent design here.
* Your appendix - totally useless now but it does digest cellulose in other species.
* Your inner eyelids - They don't even work now, but they do for lots of other animals like house cats. Bet you didn't even know you had 'em.
* Vestigial DNA - meaning chromosomes that we have but don't use, but that are used in other species. We have several that other primates use but are totally useless to us.
* The fact that we share so much DNA among species
* There are no wild milk cows. They evolved through artificial selection and are totally man made.
* Different breeds of dogs, cats, livestock.
* Viruses and bacteria evolve quickly and you can actually see it. This is why you need a new flu shot every year.
* Your tail bone. It is even not that uncommon to be born with a tail.
* Goosebumps - this would be useful if we had fur because it fluffs it and makes more insulation. For us it is worthless.
* The hair standing up on your neck when you are frightened. Animals use this to make themselves look bigger. Doesn't work when you walk upright and don't have fur.
* The fact that humans have gotten measurably and heritability taller since the 1600s
* The fact that humans jaw have gotten measurably and heritability smaller since the 1600s
* The fact that humans little toes have gotten measurably and heritability smaller since the 1600s
* Human lower back problems. Your back is intelligently designed to have support from your shoulders.
* Transitional fossils - here are several lists: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_transitional_fossils

Neither evolution or creationism can be scientifically proven, but I believe in creation. Creation makes sense to me. To deny creation is almost like denying God's existence. There's not a doubt in my mind that He exists.
If nothing else, check out Pascal's wager. Believe in God. You can't lose.

Finally! A question that states what I've been wanting to say all along!
EVOLUTION UP!
Why? It has evidence, and is very plausible. Unlike, how you said, 'God went poof.' I like that. It's what I've always thought.
