If vegetarians and vegans take Omega supplements, they would take flax-oil supplements, not fish. Neither vegetarians or vegans would imbibe something made from the flesh of fish.

I have been a vegan for 26 years and I can tell you vegan's absolutely do not take omega fish oil pills or any product that contains animal ingredients to include all fish.. Yes to b12 ..b12 is found in dirt and before we became so homogenized ..so sanitary ....people got enough(since you need such a small amount and it stays in your system a long time) just eating vegetables they rinsed with water out of the garden or from a farm ...

There are two types of EFAs, omega-3 and omega-6. You need both. Some nutritionists consider it important to get them in a certain proportion. Flaxseed oil is great for omega 3's, but not as good for omega 6's. If you're worried, try having some borage seed oil. (It's interesting to note that most studies done on EFAs are done with fish oil. Many of the ones that have compared fish oil vs. non-fish oil have found the plant sources to be better!)

No, vegans don't eat or use any animal products. It is necessary to get a good supply of B12 and Omega-3s. The following links list animal-friendly sources.

No, I don't take any vitamins and/or suppliments and I am a vegetarian who excludes meat, poultry, fish, broth, and all other animal product from my diet, execpt eggs and milk that is backed into my bread and thats only if backed in. Without taking vitamins and suppliments I am healthy and have taken blood tests to prove it (due to my parents complaints about how unhealthy vegetarianism is).

To get your Omega 3's sprinkle ground flaxseed on oatmeal or in smoothies. You can get B12 from nutritional yeast. No supplements needed!
