Since I've started this a month or so ago, my premenstrual symptoms are much improved. (I also cut out caffeine as well.) There is no diabetes on either side of my family, and people think I am "missing out".

I eat a couple of sugar-free ice cream cones each day, as well as a lot of fruit, as "substitutes" for all the candy and junk like that I used to eat.

I am also building up a tolerance pretty fast to the gastrointestinal effects of sugar alcohols.

Eating healthy is definitely a good practice. But, the "sugar-free" ice cream cone isn't necessarily better for you than a regular one. Even the sugar-free ones have carbs, and raise the glucose levels in diabetics, so, in the long run, it's really not "sugar-free". A small, plain cone would be just as healthy, and probably taste a little better, too, and, as long as you don't overdo it, you won't ruin your healthy ways. Best of luck1 Hope this helps!

Just be careful. Sugar twins have been shown in clinical studies to have negative side effects such as erratic behavior, or even cancer. Especially avoid Equal, but Sweet-N-Low isn't great either. Splenda is made of sucralose, which hasn't been studied as long as the others, but so far it is the least harmful of the three. For more information, look up artificial sweeteners under wikipedia.

Limiting your sugar consumption and eating better is never a bad idea. And, when you get used to not having so much sugar, you will find you don't want it as much either. Congratulations on taking better care of yourself. Be sure to get some exercise too... that combined with the improved diet will make you feel even better. :-)

I think it is wise to limit sugar intake. Increasing the natural fiber along with fruits and vegetables is a path to a healthy diet.
