Pool party:

Search for a neighborhood pool. Host the party late in the evening, when most people are gone (you may have to ask the pool people for permission), e.g. from seven to midnight. Set up some tables near the pool and put a few boxes of pizza and some bags of chips on it. Then, on a different table, set up a "bar" and serve "mocktails" (non-alcoholic drinks) by making smoothies or mixing juices.

Mocktail ideas:

Bloody Mary--tomato juice
Toxic tonic--grapefruit juice and carbonated water
Peachy fuzz--peach smoothie

Of course, there are always the Shirley Temples and Cokes you can turn to if you don't want to do the bar thing.

Good luck with your party!

Have a potluck where each person brings a dish to the party in lieu of a present. That way, you get the food and refreshments without spending any money. Drinks can be made using syrups or cordials and you get more for less. For games, why don't you play twister or do the conga? Or, just throw in some music and dance the night (or afternoon) away.

I asked each teen to bring something (food or drink) without telling anyone else what it was, and we set up the table like a buffet. I hired a salsa teacher and gave the kids a lesson. Cost me $50. Emptied out the playroom so there would be plenty space for them to practice and at the end of the evening, we had a dance contest with a homemade trophy which I made by spraypainting gold a pair of women's and men's shoes which I bought at goodwill for $1 each and glue-gunned to a small wooden plaque on which I inscribed their names with a marker. They loved it!

If you have a few extra adults, a scavenger hunt is always fun!
1. Make a list of everyday items: stamps, bobby pinss, pencils, 1977 penny, spool of thread, notepad paper, etc.
2. Divide into groups of 6-7 teens/ 1 adult.
3. Have each team scour the neighborhood for these items, getting help from all neighbors (everyone has a junk drawer!)
4. Also have them collect items with area business names on them; free items, of course
5. Set a time limit for all teams to return to "base"; whoever has the most listed and original items wins...something.
Lots of fun and VERY inexpensive.

Have a contest-
Name that Tune-I'm sure your teen has plenty of music, take clips from songs, not necessarily the chorus just pieces of each song, Play just the clip, each team has to get the correct answer, break into teams of five, whoever raises their (flag, cup, paper plate made into a disc-be creative or even use an old scratched disc, whatever you decide)Answers the question. The team that wins gets to pick a song that the team of their choice has to get on the floor in front of everyone and sort of act out to.

Take contribution to everyone (in a friendly basis...and they definately won't mind) and distribute equally to other. Create an impression that you are not giving the party - but - they are offering the party.

I know of a company that sells old arcade games, and rents the place out for parties. That kind of thing might be neat for teens. In case you want to check it out.
