when i was a teen i had breathing difficulties. I once saw a specialist who told me the reason was that I had oversized lungs! the problem went away for a couple of years.

over the past two months ive been running about three miles a day and the breathing problem came back. Now that I look back I remember I used to get a lot of excercise back then when I was a teen. and almost no excercise when I was in uni.

could the reason be excercise?

You may have exercise induced asthma. The problem isn't *caused* by exercise; exercise just exaggerates your symptoms.

Don't stop running!!!

Instead, go to a pulmonologist. They will have you tested for asthma and will work with you, whether you have asthma or not, to develop a way to deal with the problem. There are several excellent medications out there to help control your symptoms, including some that you will take one puff of twice a day to help prevent the symptoms from occurring.

Here's what is happening to you: In asthma (or reactive airways disease, which is similar), the airways are very sensitive. Different people have different triggers for their symptoms. For some people, their allergies do it - like dogs, dust mites, grass. For others, it's cold air or exercise. When you start exercising, your body and airways warm up, and the sudden rush of relatively cooler air irritates the airways. They are responding by constricting, which causes you to feel short of breath and probably to wheeze and cough. The inhalable meds available nowadays are very effective and have effects only on the lungs, so don't have the drawbacks of most medications.

Good luck!

what you are doing is good to your health, How ever homeopathically speaking running or exercise is aggrevating your problem. Ofcourse it is better to reduce the quantity of running or exercise till your lungs become again sustainable or capable. I suggest to take calcaria sulph 6x every day in the morning and after few months when u observe that the medicine is not working anymore you can increase the potency to 12x and can take till your problem ceases. And every month during first week please take Bacillinum 200 or tuberculinum 1M for six months. ( please note that only one dose every month.
