I've read that there are actual differences in subpopulations on susceptability even with the same exposure.
The biggest reason is surely behavioral..lack of condoms, being on the down-low, etc.
It's the same for higher rates of high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, unwed parenthood, homicide, incarceration. Behavior.

There are many factors involved. The main one is that sex does not cause AIDS, it is only sex with an infected person that can lead to HIV transmission. So the virus tends to increase among some groups but not others within a country or population. Education is critical to reducing infections. People need to know exactlly how this virus can and can't be spread. IV drug use spread the virus very rapidly, and then people who have sex with IV drug users spread it into the heterosexual population.
African-American men are probably more that 7 times more likely to have been in prison in their lifetime than caucasian men. IV drug use and rapes in prisons are a huge problem for spreading HIV into the African-American communities. This is largely due to unequal targeting and unequal enforcement of laws in the USA. Equal rights are in theory helping, but in practice not all men are equal in the USA yet.
We (blacks, whites, hispanics, native Americans, ALL OF US) must continue to fight for more equality.
Education, getting to know people of all races for example, is a huge key.

This is because of a study done by some scientist, Samson and some co-workers, where they took samples from a large number of individuals of northern europe, japanes and africa heritage.
They examined the mutation of gene called CCR5 which is the coreceptor gene located on the outside of the cell which the hiv virus attaches to. Some individuals have a mutation of this gene which means that HIV virus cannot attach to it, therfore it will not survive in the body or replicate itself.
When these scientist measured the differenece in the results...astriking difference occurred. The mutant gene was present in 9% caucasians, but completely absent in africans and asians. There explanation for this was that the balck plague in europe cause these survivors to develop the immunity against the black plague and the immunity against the HIV virus. The plague caused the gene to be mutated which in turn makes it impossible for the HIV to survive in these individuals.
Hope that helped.

1. Statistics can be fudged.
2.. If polls are taken from the prison population, known homosexuals and bisexual, and drug addicts along with young men (18-34) having sex without protection, I can see this being true.
But in the mainstream, I think the rate is equal to any other racial group. Black men in general aren't any less moral then other races. Perhaps these percentages are representative of the poor and uneducated blacks with no health insurance.
In all fairness, a poll should be taken of AIDS patients in America period by race, income, age, and region.

HIV infections are found disproportionally among lower income groups. Blacks are unfortunately more likely to be in the same groups. A fairer comparison would be to measure the rate of HIV infextions amongs blacks and other races of the same income, education, etc. Probably wouldn't find much of a difference.

That could be attributed to their intense libido. From a lifestle point of interest, the next thing is to go beyond racial taboos, which means african-american males are pushig themselves into the mainstream with money and fame. Any white woman is willing to try the wild side once, this problem creates a larger pool for people to test. If you tend to "score" more, you're bound by the odds to contract something.

i won't be able to pin-factor the justifications yet I agree that distinctive races do have their own characteristics, good and undesirable. comments or question like yours isn't racism in any respect; and contain data-truths that isn't be able to be denied. in the comparable vein "why are black African leaders, politicians so corrupt?" It has to do with a human beings's cultural roots, middle values and one in all those society from the place they initially come from.
