I actually have both HSV and HPV. I've had them for about 6 years now.
I've only met and dated one guy who had genital herpes and I was perfectly fine with it.
I've dated several guys though who did not have either virus (that they knew of anyway - there is no test for guys to detect HPV so most men don't realize they have it). Every single one of them STILL chose to date me after I told them I had HSV and HPV. Not one of them ran away screaming or anything. They were concerned and had questions of course but they all stayed with me, including my fiance (boyfriend when I told him).
I'm sure there are people out there that would say "absolutely not, no way" about dating someone who has either virus. But, there are actually a lot of guys and girls out there that would date a person with HSV or HPV.

Sure. Now if he had genital warts, I would want to make sure it was cleared up before being physical. There is no way to really avoid HSV or HPV if you are sexual. Since there is no test to know if a man has HPV outside of physical warts, you have no way of knowing if they it or not. You can run a bloodtest for HSV but unless you have symptoms you do not know if it is oral or genital. Since 80% of the population has herpes orally it is pretty hard to avoid. It can also take up to 6 months to get a positive blood test after exposure. So you can wait that 6 months, but then how do you know there was not another exposure in that time?
In my mind it is better to be with someone who knows their status and can be careful about it, than someone who thinks they don't have it and does not take the extra care to avoid exposing you.

it's depending on how you care/ love/ want that person. I have both HSV1,2 and HPV and still my husband married me. i told him even before we were dating and it was fine. But you have to recognize his/her honesty. What if someone says no i don't have anything and i am clear and then you find out later that he/she has both or one of those. so, always practice safe sex. Once you find the true love, i am sure you won't care about anything of those anymore.
Furthermore, HSV, HPV can be prevented and if you have them, it's treatable. Yes, there is no cure but they can be treated. Most of HPV can't become cervix cancer and HSV can't kill like HIV. so, if you can be patient with those annoying virus because you love/care and want the person, then go for it. Otherwise, you should stay away before that person touches your heart.

I am glad to hear that people are so open. An ex passed HSV to me and did not inform me that he had it. So, given my situation, I would date someone with HSV. If I didn't have it, honestly, I don't think I would want to take that chance to infect myself with it. I know it sounds superficial, but it's the truth.

If I cared about the person, nothing would stop me from being with them. By the way, I just read in the newspaper that ONE IN FOUR American women has HPV.
