My 6 wk old was diagnosed with pnuemonia, this past weekend, was hospitalized for three days, release Monday evening, they gave discharge instructions, and said when to or not to call? But he is so young and I am paranoid about his health now, they have him on Amoxicillin for ten days, he is not coughing anymore, is that good or bad? (they said in the hospital that is good for them to cough to keep the congestion from becoming stagnant) and his fever is up to 100.0, but they said it is considered a fever at 100.4 up, and he still sounds like he has so much nasal congestion.

I would be worried about the continuing fever! 100 is too high, its rubbish that the hospital said it has to be 100.4 to be a fever. Normal body temp is 98. I would take him back to the doctor, with such a young child its better to err on the side of caution. Continue giving him the antibiotics

You should not be getting medical information from this source about such a fragile infant. You need to be taking him back to be checked if you have any fears at all. It's very unusual for a child that young to even be sick. He should have been protected by your immunity longer than he has so tread very carefully with him. There should be someone on call over the weekend from his Drs office. I would call them and ask these questions. Good Luck and God Bless

You should be following up in a few days with your pediatrician. Coughing doesn't have to continue. I myself am recovering from pneumonia and they said the coughing would stop some.

I would take him back to the doctor or ER today and let them listen to his lungs, take his temperature and check him out. He's too little for you to be doing this on your own. Your thermometer is different than theirs and yours might be wrong. Take him in, don't call just GO!
