depends on how mature the child is and if they can keep quiet. Make sure for the first movie that they will like it don't just pick a random one and hope because if it turns out they don't like it well they will get bored and noise etc

I would say no younger then 3 but probably about 4yrs old.

Some cinemas have baby screening, at least i remember one cinema I went to all the time and a certain day each month they showed the latest kids move for kids so that way the room was full of moms/dads and their little kids and toddlers so no one was annoyed if someone started crying or what ever I never went but I'm guessing it was like that.
If you can find a place like that the age doesn't matter then.

That's kind of hard to answer. My sister and I both have sons that are three months apart. (Her's being the older child). We both took the boys to the movies...her son, watched the entire movie without a wimper or a sound. He actually stood in the aisle by where we were sitting to see. My son, on the other hand, enjoyed the movie when music was playing. He walked up and down the aisle making noise. I was sooo embarassed and I also felt bad because we were disturbing people that had paid money to see this movie. So, I guess it really just depends on the child. If your child does good watching movies at home then he/she may do well in the theatre. ***By the way, our sons are 19 and 16 months***

Any age. In Canada, they have special viewing rooms at certain times and certain theatres that allow people with younger children and babies to see the movie. They have toys, games, and special spots for diapering too. However, I would not suggest taking a child under a year to the movies though. They get cranky easily.

when they can sit still for 2 hours without talking
depends on the movie and the child
anywhere from3-5 years
My child is 3 and I would never take her because she can't sit still for more then 20 minutes and I know she would be talking and bothering other people who payed good money to watch the movie

If it's G rated you can take them as infants. I take my 3 year old to kid-friendly movies and she loves it! She may not be silent the entire time but there are other kids there and the adults understand it goes with the territory. It's a good place for her to learn about staying quiet in certain settings.

I would say about 2 but it depends on the child. If you know they would be good throughout the movie bring them.

we took our oldest Michael who is 21 months now when he was 15 months old... he is really easygoing, and does like to watch movies and tv... we dont let him watch alot, only as like a treat, and only pbs... it will depend on how your child is and what the movie is... my other son Landon is 9 months right now and I dont think we will be taking him to the movies for a long time, as he doesnt sit still...
we took them both to the circus on thursday, Michael loved it, danced and swayed to the music... Landon didnt want to sit still... so it does depend on the child....
if you decide to go have fun... =)

We have family date night. We took our newborn to the movie. When she became 1, it was harder for her to sit still, but now at 2.5 she sits and watches the movie, (disney or the like of course)

I started taking my son right before he was 1. My daughter was 2 before she wanted to sit still.
