Why is this medication prescribed?

If you become pregnant while taking montelukast, call your doctor.
What should I do if I forget a dose?
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed. Talk to your pharmacist about the proper disposal of your medication.
What other information should I know?
Keep all appointments with your doctor and the laboratory.
Call your doctor if your asthma symptoms do not improve or worsen. Your doctor may order certain lab tests to check your response to montelukast.
Montelukast will not stop an acute attack that has already started. Continue to use the medication prescribed for your acute attacks.

I agree with Alyssa, I don't think a lot of parents are educated enough and do not realize the severity of some of these allergies. Which really is quite scary. And sadly, because they do not realize how serious it is, they "don't bother". Yes, lets be honest, it can be a hassle to find peanut free things for kids to take to school (peanuts, peanut oil, and traces of peanut seem to be in everything!) and I cannot even imagine how difficult it must be to have a child with an allergy and having to constantly worry about what food they are consuming, and finding safe things for them to eat. But do these people really want to risk a child's LIFE because they "can't be bothered"?? Children with allergies should not have to be home schooled, and have to miss out. It's completely possible for them to have a normal mainstream education, other parents just need to make more of an effort. No, maybe it's not fair that the other children have to miss out on eating certain foods they like, but come on....which is more important? A child's health and life, or a child having to sacrifice their PB&J? I think parents need to become more educated on allergies. Maybe this will help them realize it only takes a trace of peanuts on another child's hand or breath to cause another child to have a reaction.

Usually allergic cough and mucus will go away when consumed for about 3 - 4 days evening. Use Banozide syrup or tablets also 1 - 1 -1 along with it.
