The only good thing I can think of is the fact that death is staring you in the face and you have time to contemplate. Contemplate your life, love you have shared, those you have hurt etc. If you are lucky enough to overcome the disease, you can change your life as a result. Everyone can but sometimes you need to be pushed. If not, then maybe you get a chance to tell your loved ones just how much you really love them and what they mean to you before you go. It can focus your mind to the important things in life.

My wife has had cancer and the only good things that have come from it is an appreciation of even the smallest things in life. You appreciate everyday and the little things that used to bug you no longer matter.

There is a fine line between a good change in attitude and a bad one. Cancer is not much fun for anyone. But you can try to make the best of it and if you have a limited amount of time left, enjoy it as best you can without letting pettiness get in the way.
