my twins were 2 when they stopped and the last one around the same time. They didnt have it all the time though. maybe to go to sleep with or when really upset....
Depends on your child and when you would like your child to stop... But i think 4 is too old and the childs teeth would be at risk of growing funny
Good Luck

4 years old is too old for a pacifier. It is going to damage his teeth as will a bottle at 4. Anyways, I think that about 6 to 8 months, it's time to start trying to ween a baby from the pacifier.

babies yes thats fine, after the age of around 14 months i would only give my child a pacifier when they are asleep! and i would try to take it off them during sleep when they are about 2 1/2 or so.
at the end of the day they are for babies, not 4 year olds.

My son stopped taking his pacy at 6 months. I think no longer than a year old.
I have a neighbor that still allows her son to suck a pacifier and he is in the first grade!

I don't think there is a certain age that will apply to all children. It will probably be different with each child. I think it's up to the parents to decide for their child when they are too old. I think it's probably when they go off the bottle or breast. But some kids won't take too kindly to going cold turkey off all sucking and they'll begin sucking their thumb.
