i bought a matsui multi-region dvd plater from currys model 320.
it says it will play CD-R, i have 10 discs that i have tried, 1 played perfectly, 3 played in bad quality with black lines through the movies and the others started to load, you got a glimpse of the menu then it had "stop" in the top corner, after pressing play it said "seq play" then "stop" again and went back to the matsui screen. is there anything i can do to get them to work?!

Different disc types can vary in sensitivity. Try cleaning the player with a cleaning disc and make sure that the dvds are clean too. This can sometimes help. Though, to be honest it sounds more like a problem with the dvd player itself. If it's in guarentee take it back to the Currys. Don't ring them, they have an appalling customer service and will try and shift the buck onto the manufacturer. The manufacturer will shift it back onto Curry's. If you take it back they should replace it, fix it, or refund your money.
A third possibility is that you bought a batch of bad discs. Try more of the same make and if they work, take the dodgy discs back to Currys.
