I assume you are in the UK? If so, you should be able to apply for Incapacity Benefit or Disabled Living Allowance. The only way to find out is to contact the Benefits Agency or your local Jobcentre. I realise that may be difficult for you at the moment, but you can ring the benefits enquiry line on the following number:
Benefits enquiry line
0800 882200
Good luck to you, and I hope you get better soon.

Try Social Services if you are down and out. If not then try the Salvation Army or similar charity as they can offer practical help for the needy

Well since you have computer access you should be able to contact some government agencies for some help. Talk to the social worker at the hospital.they will help too.

If you are in the UK, contact the CAB who will be able to look at your whole situation regarding benefits, compensation, etc. They will also know of local voluntary organisations who could help in a practical way.

If this is straight up, I am sorry. Check the government. they should be able to, or direct you to some organization why can. Once again, sorry to hear about this.
