Even though it's hard to stop picking, the best thing to do is to just leave them alone. Busting and picking at them will only irritate you skin, leaving it red, sore, and prolonging healing time, plus, it leaves bruises.
So, your best bet is to just keep you skin clean. You don't have to always use some topical treatment. Sometimes a warm wash cloth is good. If you face is oily (which it probably is if you have a lot of pimples) try washing it more times a day. Sleep with a cotton case so it can absorb some of the oil from your face.
For a quick fix, try putting a little toothpaste on it before bed, it'll dry it up and reduce the size.

I'm 33.......have oily skin and tried everything under the sun. I've tried Proactive twice and it wasn't any better than anything I have used from the drug store. The best thing to do is keep close to your daily regimine. I use a cleanser with salicilyc acid and tiny exfoliating crystals, follow with a toner with salicilyc acid, use an OIL FREE moisturizer that has an ability to even out skin tone. Whether you are a girl or guy, I've found Almay clear complexion concealer works great, it also has salicylic acid and has the bonus of covering up the redness. Once or twice a week, during a hot shower, wrap your face in a hot/warm washcloth to open pores, (face already washed) and use a gentle micro-dermabrasion exfoliator. It can be as expensive as one from Olay, or as simple as the Apricot scrub from St. Ives. I would use it on your neck, chest, anywhere else pimps are poppin up. Follow with a bit less toner than usual, and don't be shy with the moisturizer. (Nivea has an excellent line for men) Also, once or twice a week use a mud mask. It's good for cleansing and purging without the oil.
My secret for getting rid of a zit pretty much overnight: A blemish drying formula that has the active ingredient of Sulfer 10.0%. The brand I use is "Solutions Right Now" ; I use a qtip to cover the zit and surrounding area, go to bed with it on, and it's usually smaller if not gone.
And never ever touch your fact with your hands/fingers. Even if you've just washed your hands. There are special "blotting papers", but I simply use a regular tissue to keep any shine down - not the tissue that has the drop of moisturizer like Puffs Plus. Oh - taking vitamin E or Omega 3 will help as well.
There is also a skin care line at Macy's or you could prob get it on line at a good price called Origins. Great stuff. And, if you have a girlfriend that you feel comfy with sharing this kind of stuff, believe me, she will jump at the chance to help you out. They have a lot of tasteful massage for couples DVD's out there, and I'm a massage therapist, so learning to give eachother facials would bring you two closer!
Feel free to email me! Much Luck. I know, it's a *****.

Cleaning your face is required. BUT you need to use a scrubbing mitt. It opens the pores and allows the junk out of the pore pockets.
Hot damp towels help open the pores and clean your face deep. Dampen a hand towel and heat 30 second in the microwave and lay it on your face or any place you have pimples.
I use Vaseline at night to soften the pores over night. Then when you scrub and use heat in the morning they will clean easily.
My husband had horrible blackheads and this keeps his face clean as a whistle.

raw unpasturized apple cider vinegar..
the following 2 testimonials can be seen at http://www.earthclinic.com/cures/acne.ht...
Angelina O, has found that applying ACV topically to her face several times a day (4 or more times) has cured her of a "very bad complexion". She reports that she applies it straight and that while it burns her skin a bit, it still works like a miracle!
you can get it at the health food store, or in some super marktet health food sections. i use bragg vinegar..
good luck
Cheryl writes, "My daughter developed a case of moderate acne, and after trying a number of different things for over a year which helped very little or not at all, she started drinking 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar three times a day and applying it topically once at night. She has been acne free for two months. It took about three weeks to clear up."

someone recommended me to use papaya soap. and it works for my skin.
you can also try other acne products esp. tea tree oil.

Do not use soap! Soap actually damages the skin(makes it rough and tight) just use the creams and other cleaning products that you can buy at drug stores.
