Im a student currently studying a levels and am hoping to go on to study Politics at university. My father recently was diagnosed with an aggresive form of brain cancer and our financial situation has worsened. I know that I will get a grant from my local authority, but was wondering whether I could apply to other places (such as organisations/rotary clubs?) for grants which would help me financially. If anyone knows of any useful names/websites of any organisations that could help, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Dear Natasha,
My daughter, Diane had little help from our family to obtain
a Ph.D in Microbiology at UCSF. She went to the library &
was directed to reference books on Student Grants and
Applications you make copies of. Each grant has its requirements. Diane applied for a grant of $100,000.00 which did not have to be repaid. Only 11 persons per year were
able to receive this grant. She was one. If you follow this
lead, I want to hear that your pursuit paid off, and not so
much out of your pocket. Smaller low interest grants will
be needed to supplement you depending on how far you go.

Universities usually have a pot of money that they can dish out to people who need extra help. I am a mature student who has just been offered extra help. What unis are you applying to?
