hi ,
i download a video file from a forum and its a rar file when i try to play the rar video file the real player needs to download new software to play this clip and i contact the real player but the result was there is no software update available for this content. my ? is how can i play this rar file and where i get software update for real player.

with win.rar It's not a player, it's a compressing software. Once you open the archive, save your video to the hard drive, and then watch it in the player you already have.

rar has nothing to do with real. it's a compressed file. get an decompressor like ALZip (can get it free from Cnet.com) and then just double click on the rar file in windows explorer.

The clip is in this rar file, you must extract it to see the clip.
You can install a file archiver to extract rar files to get the clip inside. 7-Zip is one of them, and it's a freeware. Different from 7-Zip, WinRAR and WinZip is a shareware. That means you need to pay to use them.

a .rar file needs to be opened in Winrar by downloading it go to:
http://rarlabs.com/
Then you can open it and use it but it could contain a virus so i would scan it first

You just need to download a program to open .RAR files, go to http://www.download.com and search for "open .RAR files" and it will give you lots of option, you can get free trials on those programs, they are just like a .ZIP files, you will be able to extract your files from .RAR and use them. good luck

Download and install WinRAR from http://www.snapfiles.com/reviews/WinRAR/winrar.html
Then open rar file with this program.Select your file and extract it .

down load WINRAR for free. you have to unrar the files and make them 1 large file to view them. they are like zip file s kind of. also winamp is a good viewer also free. WINRAR is easy to use. I ve used both products for years

open the WINRAR program and double click the file it will open or click extract the folder it will extract location were u need to after that watch the video
