How can anyone get a good or bad rating, WHEN some person is just randomly going down the list of posting, marking them as all thumbs down?

Thanks everyone, Now I know it's just not me and feel pretty much the same as what most said.
It is sad that some can't just respect other's choices. I'm not saying we shouldn't ever get a thumb down or even up but not right what has been going on.
It's just like gwhiz105 said (I think).

You say you don't see how someone gets hurt, then try this,"How about ofended, or even shocked to see all thumbs down or thumbs up a lot on something that doesn't look like it should have 08 thumbs up!!

I think some people are giving thumbs down for no good reason, and when someone is trying to take those ratings in to account when they are trying to make a decision, it could affect the outcome. Personally I think that they should do away with that system, it is being abused. If you think so too, tell yahoo about it on thier feed back form, which you can find in the help section. (I did)

As I brace myself for the thumbs downs that will come rolling in, I answer this question.
I am one of these silly people. I am aware that I get to give like 50 ratings a day or something. I want to make sure I use all these up, so I will rate the whole list down. I know that if I rate them up, they earn a point - why would I want to do that? That's what other people on Yahoo are for.
Now that I have read some comments by people, I see that people earn points by giving ratings. I did not know this and am reading the Q/A form now.
~~~~~~~~Okay, I have returned from reading the Yahoo stuff. And I dont' see anywhere that says we get points for giving ratings. I also don't see how a person gets hurt by a thumbs down (except if the asker has no ability to reason and picks the "best answer" just based on the thumbs down/up scale).
yet I have learned something now. To be a good Yahoo citizen, I must only rate things appropriately, so don't worry - I am going to change.
Oh yeah, one more thing....I would sometimes rate everyone else "down" so that my answer would look better and possibly be selected as the best.

I even have certainly taken a small wreck and stayed away for some week simply by fact of petty issues like that. human beings come right here and ask propose or comments and whilst given what they ask for they initiate thumbs down simply by fact it somewhat is not what they prefer to take heed to. i in my opinion think of there are human beings purely sitting bored at their computers purely waiting to furnish thumbs down. i will basically supply thumbs down for stupid and rancid subject remember solutions. purely watch how many thumbs down i'm getting. LOL

I would have to agree with you. It seems that there are people who just want the points by giving a thumbs up or down (but it seems like there are more thumbs downs out there). Maybe Yahoo! should get rid of the point value for giving a thumbs up or down....something to consider.

I know but whatever, it's just a thumbs down. I sometimes get singled out for a thumbs down even if my answer happens to be the same as someone else's. No worries.

And all it takes is for me to give my opinion against the question asked and I feel like the most hated person on this site, but surprising enough I sometimes get best answer. Some askers can see past the stupidity!
