No, it's not grape juice. Yes, Jesus said wine, NOT grapejuice. Yes it was the best wine they ever tasted.

John 2:1-11 - Two days later (after Nathanael, or Bartholomew, had been called by Jesus to be one of his disciples) there was a wedding in the Galilean village of Cana.

Jesus' mother was there and he and his disciples were invited to the festivities. Then it happened that the supply of wine gave out, and Jesus' mother told him, "They have no more wine."

Reading further, we see the Jesus turns lots of water into wine.

Praise be, to drunken Jesus? Please also remember, like wise, people also get "drunk in the spirit".

Jesus evidently, loves to get drunk. No doubt about it. WWJD, or What Would Jesus Do?

Simple. He would drink the wine, making it if necessary.

If Jesus had to have wine to drink, why is it so criminalized to drink in many places?

"To understand what he drank you would have to look at the culture of the time," the key word being "time."

You see, the technology to prevent grape juice from fermenting was not invented until the 19th century. Jesus could not have drunk grape juice, because there was no such thing back then!

There is nothing wrong with drinking in and of itself. But the Bible says that getting drunk is a sin.
I didn't realize that drinking WAS considered a "crime."
However, many Christians choose not to drink because of how insidious drinking can be. How much is too much? It's really hard sometimes to make the distinction. One person can get drunk off of one glass of wine, while another can drink ten and still be sober. So some choose not to drink at all, so they never have to worry about it.
My mom is one of those. She hasn't had a drink in forty years.
I, on the other hand, don't mind having a glass of wine or two with dinner occasionally.

BTW, Jesus didn't get drunk either. Nowhere in the Bible does it say He did.

I don't see drinking as a crime. I know booze is prohibited in some places but then so is smoking. Also, the Bible never says Jesus got drunk. We can assume He drank wine and we can assume He got drunk but since He was perfect and sinless and we know from the Bible that drunkeness is a sin we can deduce that although Jesus may have consumed wine He did not get drunk as that would be a sin.

Drinking is a crime in many places because the law is not based on what Jesus did.
Laws are theoretically for societies benefit, and that might mean no public drinking... for example.
Personally I think there's nothing wrong with it and the only reason some people think it's bad is coz they are very unhappy with their lives. Anyway....

Could it be that the word 'wine' only has one meaning int eh English language that of an alcoholic drink.
To understand what he drank you would have to look at the culture of the time.

Drinking alcohol is both harmful to bodily organs through excessive drinking of it and you only have to go out into any town or city centre to see the effects of alcohol fighting, people disrepcting each other because they are not in control of there mind due to the alcohol.

Drinking is not a sin. Getting drunk is. God doesn't want our good judgement to be impaired and one has to look at the reason as to WHY one is drinking. Is it for an excuse to behave stupidly or is it to drown out a guilty conscience or because a person doesn't have the strength and courage to deal with reality?

I hear you. When I was a kid and asked about jesus drinking wine the church folks told me "wine was different back then". Just one of the many responses that didn't quite satisfy me.

Jesus turned water into wine, it was one of many of His miracles. In the New Testament it says drunkards will not inherit the Kingdom of Heaven.

Nice try, but where does it say Jesus loves wine? Where did it say that Jesus even drank wine at that wedding. Where did it say Jesus was drunk? You rewrite the Bible and then want us to get upset over your additions to it? Like I said "Nice try".

Wine was the only thing people could drink at that time. Wine was allowed until it was abolished by Muhammad. It has been illegal ever since.
