If it is, then both sides are the evil ones.
If Bush thought that's what he was starting, he should be hung until dead as a traitor and war criminal.

Apocalyptic. You have no idea what apocalyptic is. I did 5 years of civil war in Lebanon. I was body searched by Mini Mickey Goofy and Taz. A friend of mine was gunned down by Kermit the frog. Muslims were nailed to their front doors. Christians were tied behind cars and dragged through the streets until their flesh was shredded from their bones. Never knowing if this is going to be our last moment on earth. Day in day out year in year out. Adapting becoming ruthless and cynical. "How many dead today?" "About 50" Only? well it's a calm day today. Maybe I can go and find some food without getting killed.
The US versus the Middle East. The Super power against a bunch of poorly armed peasant and goat herders. It will be definitely apocalyptic for them. There was never any right or wrong in these confrontations. Both sides claim to be right or on the side of good. History does not make judgments like that. It just records the events with out moral judgments. These are left to people, culture, and religion. This is the "history" according to the winner or the loser and they never agree. Wars and conflicts have been a dime a dozen since our prehistoric beginnings. They still are. Whatever makes you think of the apocalypse is close by. If there will be a confrontation in the middle east it will be just one more bloody event with winners and losers. Yawn.

If the war had anything to do with religion it might be the start but it is not about religion and never has been. The terrorist
attacks and the terrorists themselves are not fighting for a religious reason either.
As with all wars it is about power and control. The Sunni minority wants complete control of the billions of dollars in oil reserves. And as with most wars they use religion as a tool to try and get support from their religion and followers. There is no jihad and even Osama Bin Laden is not a jihadist. He is a common everyday criminal that believes that he and his followers can force their way into the governments of many middle eastern countries. To seize power and control. Nothing else.

No, it's just the latest version of Vietnam. The great thing about the war on terror, as opposed to the Cold War, is that they can keep this stuff going practically forever. It's one religion against another, with plenty of true believers on each side. The defense contractors are salivating already.
Care for more $10,000 toilet seats, folks?
*EDIT* And I think it's pretty arrogant of American Christians to believe the USA is even going to be involved in the "apocalypse." Where does it say that in the bible?

No, I don't beleive it is the apocaolypic holy war. The word Apocalypse has been miss understood in the religious sense.
There have been many religious wars throught the history of man kind that could be claimed to be this event.
Look at the crusades tens of thousands killed and whole streets ran with blood like rivers.

It isn't the war mentioned in Revelation but certainly is leading up to it. In the final war Christians will not be here, the war will be against the nation of Israel. It is not a war between good and evil, it is man under the control of Satan against God, and guess who will win.

The apocalyptic holy war started the day the religions refused to agree on God. Religious people refuse to acknowledge that Almighty God is supposed to straighten out this mess.

No more than any other religious war has been. War is war. The basis for it is never good and neither side can be called good. People suffer during war in terrible horrific ways. That is never good.
