Sign up for a few college classes. Then you will be surrounded by people that may have someone in mind or you may find someone yourself. Go to places and do things that you like to do and maybe you will meet someone. No One knows that you are on this planet until you introduce yourself.

First you find out what things are important for you in life, then look for others with the same interests. One interesting site for that is meetup.com where there are organized groups of everything under the sun. From photography, to Salsa dancing, cooking, outings etc..all around the US.
