In addition to the grease and fat and other fake stuff that the food is cooked in (as already mentioned), there is also the extra hormones that the poor cows are fed and God only knows what kind of meat one is getting when s/he eats a hamburger, or even if it's 100% beef. (What's really gross is that cows are fed cow leftovers. So cows are eating cows. How's that for good eats?) I was aware of the evils of fast food for a good year or so before reading "Fast Food Nation" and had stayed away from it. However, reading the book has just apalled and disgusted me even more.

No!
Fast foods are commonly high in trans fats, 'bad' carbohydrates and empty calories. They usually lack a good amount of vitamins, nutrients and minerals and give you double the amount of calories than you need! In short, stay away from them! Not only that but you're usually consuming less veges, fruits or water than required. Even once a week is too many times to be consuming fast foods. There is no need in the eyes of dieticians and nutritionists.
Hope this gives you the info that you need! Go make up a healthy salad with 'good' carbs and some protein (i.e. tuna)

No.Many popular fast-food menu items are unhealthy, and excessive consumption can lead to obesity. Because the fast food concept relies on speed, uniformity and low cost, fast food products are often made with ingredients formulated to achieve a certain flavor or consistency and to preserve freshness. This requires a high degree of food engineering, the use of additives and processing techniques that substantially alter the food from its original form and reduce its nutritional value.

ok my dad has had a theory for a very long time that fast food has something that that makes you fat in it .i never used to listen untill i found out about something called trans fats.transfat leads to heart desease, diabeties, symdrom x, heavy metal poisioning, cancer, obesity, slow metabolism. thank god they are about to ban trans fat from our food.the way they partialy hydriginate the fat turns it into something the body is unable to process and so it gets stored like any other toxin,, to fat .and dosent like to leave your body.more then 70% of food at the supermarket has trans fat/aka partially hydrogonated oil.have you seen that movie supersize me? well if you seen that movie you wouldnt ask if fast food is good for you. you need to see that movie the next time you can. see what you think..make wise decissions, and good luck!
