I would recommend if you are using dial up to do to the cheapest DSL plan. If you have the cheapest DSL to upgrade to the next fastest DSL package or until cable is either less money or the only thing faster.

Most of the cheap dial up plans base cost is $9.95/month and $14.95 for high speed dial up.

The cheapest DSL (9-30+ faster) is $14.99/month.

The absolute fastest speed is with cable.

384 Kbps to 1.5 Mbps 128 to 384 Kbps 1 Dynamic One year $14.99

AT&T Yahoo! High Speed Internet Pro Package

Cable speeds are typically 4, 6, 8, 10, 16 Mbps upstream bandwidth and 384 Kbps - 1 Mbps downstream depending on the area.

You probably need to clean you computer up. Delete all the Internet temporary files and also temp file. Once that is done you need to do a clean now, defrag and check now.
If you have windowxp you do it in this order but if you have windows 98, then you would do a scan then a defrag.
Do a google search on cleaning up computer and you should find a lot of helpful information that is free.
