how do i burn downloaded avi to dvd or vcd discs?

i am new this and need step by step instructions how to do it, downloading from torrent spy, also i have downloaded dvd santa, can anyone help please

If you download the full dvd image (about 4GB) you can burn to dvd disc as a disc image....that's all there is to that really but there are some compatibility issues with certain drives. Usually dvd-r is the most compatible and easily recognized discs.

If you download the divx compressed avi file....(700MB) you burn it to a regular cd using VCD mode....it'll play in any standard progressive scan dvd player

If you want to make a DVD that will work on a common DVD player, you definitely need a burning software. Copying the movie as is directly to a new DVD it's not the right way to do it (If you do so your DVD player will not be able to play the video/movie properly).

You want to make a DATA disk. This will let you play them on your computer and give you a backup copy of them. If you want to watch them on a TV, you will need an authoring prrogram such as Nero, Roxio Media crea tor etc.
