u r right the global warming is a bigger disaster for human entity, but it is something like chronic disease, its hazardous impact will be felt more in the form of heavy climatic change which is not easy to handle, for the past five to ten years we have witnessed many disasters than ever before throughout the world, the volcanoes, the earthquakes, the floods, tsunami hurricanes, typhoons, the rains which was nonstop, all these are clear indications of global warming, the melting of ice in the polar region cannot be ignored at all.

it is an important issue ,but impending nuclear war may be much more worrying and then there are all the predictions of the ends of humanity ,so take your pick
what you want to get worried about the most
lots of choice

many predictions are for the years between 2012 and 2020
Nostradamus, the mayas ,Egyptions Jesus ,and Terrance Mckennas time wave who put the magnetic out put of the world in to a computor projection that stopped at zero in 2012,this stops the globe and it starts turning into
the other direction ,the resulting change of currents will turn the planet into a giant washing machine cleaning the surface

then there are the meteor showers you mentioned ,the gulf of Mexico is the result of one that would have made life exstinct for a while ,this would result in an other ice age if the globe is covered in dust

then there are natural disasters
Volcanos are coming to life everywhere
the weather has giant storms like hurricanes ,tornados ,tidal waves ,earth quackes

a shift of the earth crust ,like a changing of the poles
under Anrarctica were found fosilized tropical plants indication the pole must have been in a different place then (the mainland atlantis is thought to be under it )

Now we got Global warming to contend with (see my answer on global warming)

and the USA appears to be gunning for a global nuclear conflict .it is most likely that this will get us first looking at present politics

but the planet will probably survive unless humanities bombs result it to be knocked out of its orbit

so many ends to choose from
if it wasnt so serious it would be rediculous

meanwhile enjoy life .and make the most of it at least we are all in the same boat

Yes, global warming could be a humongous disaster. I'll put it in small, easy-to-understand steps. The Earth warms. The ice sheets and caps melt. The ice, of course, turns into water. Where's the water go? The oceans. The sea level rises and floods the habitat of hundreds of millions of animals and people. There could also be an increased chance of drought and disease.

We know the possible effects, and we know the solutions. What's stopping us from preventing a lot of the negative effects? Politcs.

Yes it could be a cause of large scale disaster. We could have "Mohan Jodaro" and "Harappa" like situations in many parts of the globe.
What is really required to be understood is that whether what we are experiencing today is really initiation of Global Warming or it is just a minor low period peak within the inter-glacial period in which we are living today for the last 11,000 or 10,500 years B.P. (Neogene).
Planet earth has had a number of glacial and interglacial periods within the last 2 million years during which man appeared in this arena as well as prior to appearance of man on this planet.
If modern man is responsible for increase in green house gases, supposedly to be the cause of present global warming then who was responsible for the earlier global warming as well as for desertification of fertile and well irrigated civilizations at Harappan and Mohan-Jodaro sites.?
Emulation of good practices is part of evolutionary processes and all life forms that have and would have the ability of adaptability to global warming would survive by way of natural selection of Darwin’s Truth that I prefer to call it and the rest would either become extinct or exterminate due to over-specialization like the “big dinosaurs”.
Global warming is an important issue before all life forms and not man alone, who knows the elephants, hippos', whales, sharks might also be discussing the same issue in their own ways and of which we know very little.

Anthropogenic global warming theory (AGWT) is one of the most significant disasters in human history. It ranks right up there with UFOs, Bigfoot, the Bermuda Triangle, legislating the value of pi, and punishing those who have the audacity to suggest the world is not flat.

The entire basis of AGWT is the greenhouse effect, a theory in itself, that is often referenced as the reason the earth is not at a temperature some 30C degrees colder than measured. It comes to this conclusion by making an error in a calculation which, if performed properly, shows that the earth is exactly the temperature it should be; thank you very much.

AGWT points to the Vostok ice core data to support the greenhouse effect theory on which it depends, completely ignoring the fact that that data shows conclusively that changes in atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration have NEVER caused temperature change on the planet in over 400,000 years.

AGWT surreptitiously disregards the fact the entire CO2/temperature data record is easily, and completely, explained by the temperature dependence of the solubility of CO2 in sea water. This dependence makes the release of CO2 from the oceans as the temperature rises and its reabsorption as the temperature falls an effective thermometer. However, the AGWT takes this one step further and proposes that adding mercury to a thermometer will somehow make the room warm up.

AGWT pointedly ignores those "inconvenient truths" of recent little ice ages and post ice-age periods of warming occurring in the absence of humans that make the theory laughably contrived.

AGWT loudly dismisses any scientific argument to the contrary, no matter how well researched, formed, or considered based solely on the possibility that there may be some connection with a corporation that might have a financial stake in the argument. However, it reacts with righteous indignation the mere suggestion that financial benefit to the UN, China, third-world countries, and the proponent scientists themselves could play a role.

AGWT, in an attempt to silence those arguments that it cannot successfully address scientifically, chooses to stick its head in the sand and declare the debate over. Its proponents have suggested ********* academics of their titles, detractors of their dignity, and all of us of our right to truthful scientific debate. It has resorted to the tactics of the inquisition in order to force adoption of tenets impossible to scientifically support.

Yes, anthropogenic global warming is one of the most significant disasters in human history. It has rendered many scientists, politicians, and the public incapable of critical thought. It has cost the public billions in tax dollars and proposes to cost the public trillions more in an attempt to thwart a problem that is, at best, unproven, at worst, scientific fraud, and most certainly larceny on a global scale.

The biggest disaster for humans is that so many of you read and believe everything on the internet. Global warming is the latest thing to keep the population running scared...no matter how little truth there is to it.
And Sandhya (above) obviously has little to no understanding of weather and climate as his/her statement is patently false.

In easy language ,
It is totally disastrous. It would lead to the depletion of the ozone layer which prevents UV rays from the sun .Thus resulting in skin cancer and other skin problems.Like Ever wonder why most of the people wear that white sunscreen on their nose?Same reason

It sure is. Try playing with natures balance and she will revert back to her own way of setting in the balance. When this happens lots of life perish.Highly fertile lands turn to desert.Eventually the water management you have sought to design for fulfilling your needs can't provide the support needed.
